A bit about me and my hens!
We all live in the wonderful county of Hampshire in the UK. I have always wanted hens but didn't have the space, until the summer of 2009, when we moved to the countryside. With more space in the garden I started to plan the arrangement. 1st I worked on the vegetable...

sort off! some friends of ours have had to move to a flat, therefore not much space! if we hadn't taken them then they would have gone to the 'blue cross' animal rescue and split up!
i will post picture very soon!
we are all very excited!
thank you. I was a bit concerned over size in the hutch, I think I will just have to wait and see how many hatch! regarding age before introducing to the flock, wouldn't the growers be on growing pellets and not layering pellets? My girls are very friendly and there would be welded wire between...
I'm planing on hatching some eggs this spring with one of my broody hens. It's the first time for us both! I plan to build an outdoor fully enclosed run with a rabbit hutch for starting things off. The hutch is 4ftx1.5ft and the run will be 2mx1.5m. I plan on getting 6 eggs of which probably not...
just got news of a white tailed eagle in Hampshire UK also known as a sea eagle! It's too far away from me to be a problem, but what a lovely bird.

Hi Jettgirl24, yes that's the stuff! it is very useful, I have about 9 inches deep, that means they can scratch down without reaching the membrane. It also keeps their feet clean, I do have a grassed area that I let them free range on, which makes them dirty, however, some time in the...

have you tried cutting off the leaves on the tomato plants, it helps to ripen the fruits! It's getting cold in the UK too! My 1st year with hens, hope they will be ok!
Hi, Yes I meditate and have been doing so for about 2 years. I find it really helps clear all the clutter in my mind and just having a break from the everyday life really helps. One thing I must mention is, it's different for everyone, no 2 experiences are the same. Meditation is dedication...

Yep, just imagine No electric! I think the whole infrastructure of most the money grabbing countries would fall with in a month! No electric = No money, after all money only exists in electronic form (well 97%...

my chore - endless washing up! just like everyday 4x or more! my DSS had 6 mates round last night!
they don't use any electric just a light breeze will get them going. It will suck out all the hot air and smells! I really want to know if anyone else uses one as i can't decide if to put it in the greenhouse or coop! they are £15 in the shops and i managed to get one on ebay for £3 what a bargain!
