    Thin egg shells

I have BOs. They have food all of the time. They are able to free range all they want. Granted we are dry as a bone down here in south Texas. They have crushed oster shell anytime they want. I still have thin shells. What else can I do?

Snapping Turtles - Any suggestions on elminating them from our pond?

Are you out in the country? If so sit with a .22 cal rifle. As much fun as plinking tin cans. The other option is to hooks with bacon tied to very fine piano wire. The wire is so they can't bite through the leader. Make sure it's deep enough so your ducks don't get caught.

    Mosquitos

Since they live in Miami I think draining the swamp is not an option. After watching the snake shows on tv I would think big snakes would be your problem.

    Are caracaras a threat?

lately I have been seeing more and more caracaras in my area of south Texas. They don't seem to be to be all that aggressive. I have BOs some about 2 month olds and the rest are well over a year old. I did see one in the yard eating a duck egg from one of my runners. Sure wish they would lay in...

    Bees nest

If these wasp or bees( down here they could be Africanized bees) just put some dishwashing liquid in a big plastic glass. Fill with hot water. Once they are back on the nest throw the liquid on the pest. They drop like stones. The soap is not toxic to the birds but the bees die. Repeat as often...

    I'll need a hunk of pork, a 22, and a sleeping bag.

We used to live up in the Texas hill county. At one time I counted 5 foxes in my yard. Since I nor my neighbors had chickens I would feed them off my back deck. The were quite use to me but if anyone else was with me they would raise all kinds of cane. The first time I heard them it solved alot...

    duck eggs - question

Ihad a terrible time the first try with chickens. And since we don't do anything with our duck eggs I thought I would give a try. Temp was 99.5. Humidity was 50%. I would roll the eggs when I remembered unlike the doting I did with the chicks. Everyone of the ducks hatched with no problems. I...

    What do the eat

Well it happened. The male passed this weekend. He stopped eating and I wonder if the female was not eating out of sympathy. She walked around in a small pen we built in the yard. She could eat as much grass as she wanted. We also got some spinach and romaine. She started eating. I also put a...

Wasp & Chicken Coop - Help!!

Get a large tumbler and put about a half inch of dish washing soap. Fill the glass with hot water. In the evening when the wasp are on the nest throw the solution on the nest. They will drop and die. Remove nest and you are done. The soap won't hurt the birds.

Predator turns out to be prey

I think she a super mom. The most important thing I learned is all chickens are not alike. I have heard I'd batams attacking but never saw it. I've done that and more. If mom was that agressive what are the Roos like? I'm going to have our first grand child and want to make sure he isn't...

Predator turns out to be prey

My neighbor a couple houses down from me has American game chickens. Since the hens run all over the place I thought it would be neat to add some of the hens to my flock of BOs. One went broody and hatched 8 really cute babies. So I reached into the nest like I do with my girls. After getting...
