    June 2 Photos were taken of some of my mcmurray neids today. These are just the males (I think). Of the 15 I ordered (lost 2), 5/13. I think 8/13 females. I should have tagged for chick color to learn about sexing them but didn't get a chance to while they had "chick down"

    Apr 28 Purchased 15 LCN chicks from McMurray, watched the website like a crazy person till they restocked. I've had them like a week. Will upload photos later. So far 2 have died due to unknown issues (potential crop clearing problem). Came with vaccinations against cocci and maerks. Down to 13...

    ...me wondering, if I give them away locally as "brown layers" what would the outcome be of black silver roo x black copper hen I dont have any birchen hens in there and obviously, these aren't eggs I should bother setting since my bcm line is pure and separate. *thanks chicken genetics people :)

    ...to hatch more black coppers this season. Hopefully also extending my black silver marans population after a hawk took my last hen. It isn't easy to find chicks or eggs for silver blacks. But I guess slightly easier than my other dream of finding le fleche anytime soon. *sigh* a girl can dream.
