    How many hens do you have? I started with a 6x12 kennel then added another 6x12 a year later. Also depends on if they get out to free range or not.

    Thanks to all of you. But to clear things up.. I'm not to worried about keeping the chickens warm. I have a rather larg non- insulated coop and I realy don't think the one heat lamp does a lot of anything to keep the coop warm. But do to the lack of sunlight hours I needed to add light anyway so...

    I seen that. But it's only sold in 50 lb bags around here and it looks like the layer feed has everything they need so I took that route instead. Thanks for the help though.

    My BO and barred rock are 16 weeks old this week. And my black austalorps are 12 weeks old. When should I switch to egg layer? And will it harm the younger girls if they get it when I switch the older girls over?
