She is a part silkie , not sure with what else.... maybe a Sussex ?
Not sure what breed ducklings are either so waiting to see what they turn out to be.
Ha Ha , my two females do this to each other. Sometimes the wrong way round and sometimes across each other. So funny to see. The best bit is afterwards they just go crazy for a while running about and flapping and sometimes jumping into the pool. Great to see and funny to watch !
I had to remove my roo from the coop as he scared the ducks. The ducks live with 2 docile RIR and one silkie cross and one 3 month old chick that the silkie hatched out even though not her egg. So quite a mixed bunch but all happy.

My two ducks went in with the chickens at 6 months old. The ducks stayed together and just moved out the way of the chickens and now they all live very well together. At night the chickens go on their roost which is on a shelf and the ducks sleep under the shelf as they do not roost.
Sometimes I...
Well, I have two female ducks YES deffo female and they love doing the mating thing. After a lot of head bobbing one lays out flat like a pancake whilst the other gets on top. Sometimes it is sideways which looks so funny, sometimes the proper way and sometimes head to tail. After this they run...
Sorry to hear about your baby chicks. I had a hen hatch out one chick and when the chick was about 8 weeks old we put them in with the others. Before this we let them free range with the hens they were going in with for about half an hour each day. They did go in with 2 other chickens and 2...
Hi there, I too have a singleton chick and she is doing very well. She has a good mum and together they are in a house and run away from the others, but near enough to see them. We let them out today to freerange with the chickens they will eventually live with. Unfortunately mum is still very...
Thanks for the comments. I did think it was a pullet but thought maybe I was just hoping it was. So thought I would get someone elses opinion.
She is the only chick we have so I am really pleased. Her and mum will be going in with 2 other chickens and 2 ducks so will be very happy.
Beryl.
Here is our pond for our 2 ducks. Made out of 2 pallets, sawn lengthways and screwed together to make a frame. We put blocks in bottom covered in carpet tiles, black liner and filled with water. DH put a drain and pipe in bottom for easy emptying and refilling. When we had a plastic kiddie pool...
Thank you all so very much for your replies and opinions. Here in S. Ireland the temps do not get too hot and I leave mine on the counter. Never had a bad egg. Thanks again
Thanks for your replies. I will let you know on colour of eggs. ! I think I may plant a couple in their runs as we too have wet ground which the willow loves !
I have willow trees which are sprouting well after my hubby cut some of them down. The chickens and ducks are eating the leaves off them when they free range.Do you think this is ok for them ? I am worried they may be poisonous. All the flock are still ok so hopefully they have found another...
Thank You. At the moment mum and chick have the wire between them and the ones they are going in with. I deliberately put them next to each other so they can get used to it. Chick still sleeps under mums wing at night so was not sure if a bit too early yet ? What do you think ?
My silkie cross hen hatched out a chick 4 weeks ago.
I am wondering the best plan to re introduce them back into the run and house where they will live.
The run is approx 20 feet x 20 feet with a house attached measuring 6feet x 6 feet.Currently in the run is 2 docile chickens and 2 ducks.
The...
