    Egg bound hen

I can easily tube her. I'll make sure to get some electrolytes into her and more fluids when my husband gets home to hold her. I've been soaking her every day and keeping her warm. I'll crush up some more calcium tabs and see what happens. I just hope the poor girl ends up making it :(

    Egg bound hen

Today is day...8-9? Shes not dead, but I can feel the egg inside her on the top of her body still inside the oviduct I think. I've been working on her for two days now, at first I thought it was something else and I never even thought to check her. I know, my fault, but she was acting like she...

Silkie Chick spry but postured like a frog

Ah! I had a duckling like that. I stuck him in a mug standing up with a little paper towel around him to help hold him up for 24 hours. It strengthened his legs to the point that hes now running around perfectly :)

Egg about to hatch, hen abandoned it.

Egg about to hatch, hen abandoned it.

And my incubators are full with duck eggs. SO! I now have this one lone little egg that is about to hatch, I can feel it kicking in the shell and see it moving about in the air pocket. I put it under my Brinsea brooder and covered the sides. I don't want to loose this chick, but im not sure...

    Aggressive Drake???

Ah i thought so. I wasn't sure if this was just normal and I was to blame for not separating the ducklings from the rest of the flock. Thank you for confirming that this is not normal behavior. :)

    Aggressive Drake???

My ancona drake, year and a half old, has become mean. Not to me though, just to everything else. He attacks the goslings when ever they get to close to his girls and then sometimes stalks them through the yard, He killed the duckings his mate tried to hatch out, and bits at the sheep every now...

    Hen attacked hatching chick?

Alright so this was a new one for me, my hen attacked her one little egg that she had been incubating as it began to hatch. I found it half way zipped with injury's to its face. Now I have never had a hen do this before, so my question is: 1. Why? Was it because she just didn't realize what was...

    Help, entire flock eating eggs!!

Well dang... I slanted the nesting boxes, added a catch box on the outside and now the blasted birds dont like it and are insisting on laying inside the hutch on the floor... So, experts. Do you think they will figure this one out on there own? Or should I do something different to entice them...

    Red Wattles and combs?

If a hen has a pale red comb it usually means it is i'll, stressed, or simply not doing well. Usually speaking, the brighter the comb the healthier the bird.

Egg stuck to chickens butt feathers...

The eggs are not that big, they are pretty normal size. They are English orps if that helps. Lots of fluff going on back there. I'll just trim the feathers back. Thanks for the advice :)

Egg stuck to chickens butt feathers...

The problem is that the eggs are wet coming out and are sticking to the fluffy feathers. My oprs are very well endowed in there fluffy butt areas so this is becoming a common occurrence :/

Egg stuck to chickens butt feathers...

Almost all of my birds have been laying there eggs, and then walking away with their eggs attached to their bums... With a flock full of egg eaters this is becoming my biggest problem as the eggs promptly flop on the ground or get pecked off of the hens tush... How do i fix this? I doubt there...

    Help, entire flock eating eggs!!

Do you have any pictures of the box set up? I think mine are developing a habit of eating eggs also :/ They figured out which eggs are fake :/ I have a mix of golf balls and ceramic eggs yet they seem to have figured out which eggs are edible and which aren't... They shouldn't be able to get at...

    Help, entire flock eating eggs!!

...lemon juice...and they just dumped it out and ate the shell... Culling is not an option for me. I just cant cull my whole flock for a second time...*last time my old flock had really bad health issues, I clulled them all, waited the winter, and bleached/limed everything...* So, I would like...

    Breed advice?

Hmm...i think my Mara would still be able to fit through that :/ But in the end that means they very well may fit in the duck house. I guess I will just need to wait to see how they grow and what they will or will not fit in.

    Breed advice?

Alright guys one more question! How big of an entrance can geese squeeze into? I am trying to either build them a house, or see if they will fit in my duck house with the ducks. There is room for two geese in there, but if they wont fit then I need to figure out how big of an opening I can make...
