ChooksMan. Here are some egg pics. Her egg is the spotted one. I think the first pic is a more accurate representation of the color as the last was slightly shadowed. This is in comparison to an Australorp, Leghorn and Easter Egger egg.
THANKS SO MUCH!!! What a great detailed response Chooks man. I'll take all the photos you suggested tomorrow and post them. She has pretty amber-colored eyes. She came out of a dark brown egg. It wasn't as dark as I'd hoped but dark nonetheless. I wish I had measured it on the color scale...
Would someone be willing to rate the qualities of my 27-week-old BCM pullet? I took a video of her so that you could see her from some different angles. THANKS!

Little Peddler Line.
She has two sisters from the same hatch that have no copper. One has featherless feet and...
My little Pharaoh, a BCM pullet, just laid her first egg today at 26- almost 27 weeks. :) It is early December and we don't use supplemental lighting but it has been unseasonably warm here in New England. Here is a video of her doing it! :https://youtu.be/v9PBpQJFNCU
She hatched on June 3, 2015.
My black Australorp, Clementine, is by far the most people friendly. She was hand-raised though where my others were born out int he coop and raised by a broody hen- so this could definitely play into it.
My one little olive-egger is very friendly though. When I go to lock up the coop at...
My 6 month old blue favaucana laid her first green egg today! Here's a pic for anyone who might be interested:
Third egg from the left. (L to R: Australorp, Easter-Egger, Favaucana, Leghorn)
Hey Fass. Love the update! AND I love your little Jazz's white beard. So adorable. If you'r'e interested in seeing my babies- I post videos of all my chickens (including JoJo the Favaucana) on my youtube channel, The Mustachioed Hobo, usually once a week or more. Do you have any pictures...
Thanks DeepDishChx! I was just about to reply that the picture didn't post but when I quote you the photo shows up in the quote...but still not on the post. Weird. Anyhow...Thank you for your help!
Does anyone have any pictures of these sage green eggs that Favaucanas supposedly lay??? Mine is 6 months old but as we are heading into winter (and I don't light the coop) I don't think I'll likely see an egg until spring. Thanks!
Hi! Yes the Ameraucanas on the farm were blue and splash.
Excuse the wordy reply but here goes:) I thought maybe there was some Faverolles mixed in because out of my four blue eggs that were supposed olive-eggers- one ended up being a Faverolle cross (confirmed by the woman I got the eggs...
This is very possible! Thanks!!! The woman who I got the eggs from had Ameraucanas (blue and splash) and Black Copper Marans on her property. AND my fourth olive-egger, his OTHER sister, looks like a dark brown ameraucana (cheek puffs) but she has some copper feathering in her neck so I have...
I hatched this guy out of a blue egg five months ago. He was supposed to be an olive-egger (welsummer x ameraucana) but now that he's all grown up I'm not so sure. Out of the 8 fertile eggs I received and hatched 2 ended up being completely different breeds than I ordered. So it's VERY...
I adopted three 2-year-old hens from my aunt last summer and it took them exactly one month to lay. I'm sure they were stressed out from the move. This was also midsummer however, so depending on all the factors mentioned by the posters above it could be as long as Spring until you see an egg...
Hi Donrae! Here's a photo of Blackjack all grown up at 5 1/2 months. We still have him (and his twin brother) but we are going to be looking for homes now that they are crowing up a storm. I also took a video if him for you ().
I'm also not so sure he's an olive-egger anymore. He looks...
If he is still not showing signs by say- 16 weeks could I safely assume I have a pullet? Or is there some other age that I should know by? I mean other than the obvious wait until a crow or an egg.
Mine are only 12 weeks old. They just figured out the crowing thing but as time goes on I'm sure it will increase in frequency.
My friend, who had chickens growing up, was wondering if it had something to do with testosterone levels and how they fluctuate in a 24 hour cycle.
My rooster crows as soon as the sun comes up (around 5:30ish) but he ALSO crows every single morning at 8:30. (or 8:29 or 8:31) Why is this? He doesn't crow at all the rest of the day. I understand that his first crow has something to do with the sun coming up but I can't for the life of me...
