She passed away today. I tried the NutriDrench and something called Rooster Booster that has iron in it. I had to give it to her with a syringe and she took it, but I guess she just wasn't going to get better. Thank you for your advice and help. If one of my other two babies shows up sick, I...
Mine have a long run that they usually stay at the end of. Do you think if I put her in the crate next to the fence down there that would work? There is grass beside the run for her to be in. I don't let my free range anymore since the hawks got several of them. Now they have a long run that...
Well she is in her sling. I can't tell if she likes it or not. She just sits there looking around. I have given her some egg and a piece of strawberry since they like that so much. Rebrascora are you saying I should put her with the other chickens outside to try to let her move?
She seems to be holding her own and she is now pulling both her feet under her. The curled up foot is now straightening out. She is still not standing. I move her to a new spot during the day. Do I need to try to move her legs some to help them keep strong enough to lift her?
I guess time will tell. Right now she seems comfortable so I'm leaving her in her private home on my screened in porch. If she gets worse I'll have to let her go.
Well she still can't move, but she is drinking plenty and eating just a little. She has her head up and seems content. She squawks when I move her to a fresh spot. I hope she gets better.
Last night I found one of my babies out after the door closed. She was laying under the ramp. She didn’t move on her own so I got her out and put her inside. She just lay there. I looked and she had a big bald spot and what looks like a scab. I brought her in for the night, got her drinking, and...
I am on the second time doing this, but I still worry. This summer, I used two seed heating mats in my outside brooder pen with 24 Cornish Cross chicks. My sister had built a rack for the mats to lay on and the chicks to go under. I think it worked fine since all my chicks were fine. About three...
I want to clean out the run and put the dirt in my garden beds. Will this hurt my plants? Also how long does my clean out of my coop with pine shavings and manure take to compost? Thank you for the help.
Thanks for the reply. I'll watch the other one too since it is a week younger. I was hoping since this one was not significantly bigger than the known girls that maybe it wasn't a cockerel. That seems to be my luck with hatching. I didn't know about the age for the combs turning red.
Older younger
I have 4 chicks. Two were bought as pullets and two were hatched. The Delawares were hatched and the smaller is a week younger than the other. The Brahma and the Sex-link are about 4 days...
