Sick 1-2 week chicks - what disease is this?

Last week I bought six 5-day old chicks. I housed them in my usual spot for new chicks, a cage with heat lamp/new clean straw in the barn. I didn’t pay much attention to them the first couple of days, but on the third morning, I discovered one had died in the night. The next day two were...

need suggestions for duckling who can't walk

Hello, I'm a chicken owner who just adopted some ducklings for the first time. I was only going to adopt four, but there was a little one at the feed store who couldn't walk, and the owner was going to "throw him in the trash." So I of course adopted him. He wasn't eating/drinking. I think he...

    HELP! Duck has plugged nostril.

When my duckling's nostrils were plugged, I gave him a warm bath, and then another, and worked at the nostril with my fingernail. Eventually it cleared. He liked the warm water and I think it helped him to be more active in the water, dunking his head and such. Good luck!

Chick has watery eyes and lethargic

Update, in case anyone is interested: applied bacitracin ointment to her eyes, and gave her liquid antibiotic via water. I had to dip her beak in the water to get her to drink since she had no interest on her own and couldn't see the water dish. She showed improvement within 24 hours - eating...

Chick has watery eyes and lethargic

I just bought some 5-day old chicks, and one looks sick to me. Her eyes are half-closed and watery, and she seems just a bit lethargic. Is there a treatment I can try without involving a vet? Maybe antibiotic ointment to her eyes? She's already on medicated feed.

    Hen stopped laying and died

My Sicilian Buttercup stopped laying about six weeks ago. I've never had a Sicilian Buttercup before, so I just assumed they just didn't lay as much as other hens. But yesterday, she died. I hadn't noticed any health problems. What kind of illnesses could cause a hen to stop laying for such a...

    Turkeys Stomping

It's a mating-related thing. But I don't know if it's to look sexy to a hen or to attract her attention.

What kind of roo is this?

This guy is about 8 months old. Originally he was marked similarly to a female bantam who is probably a sister. She is buff with black speckles (below roo in 2nd picture). Any ideas as to breed?

Five Beautiful Laying Hens, that need a home

We are in Monterey county and would be happy to add them to our flock. Were a bit north of Santa Barbara, but Monterey is a great vacation destination :). Incidentally, the Monterey SPCA takes in farm animals.

    Lump on hen's chest

Sounds like a trip to the vet's. I'm terrified of lancing without painkiller. Thanks! Hoping it's not a tumor... But an abcess like that would probably have killed her long ago. :(

    Lump on hen's chest

My turkey hen is three years old. She has a lump on her chest that has been growing for a year at least. At first I thought it was her breastbone which she had plucked feathers from to brood, but it's gotten bigger and feathers are only missing on the lump. It's about the size of a lemon, and...

Breed and sex of two pullets?

The two have started crowing, so it's definite, they're male. The kids will have to rename them, Snow White and Cinderella don't seem to fit anymore.

Will these deformities affect my turkey?

One of my poults was born with a deformed wing and crooked toes. The vet said we could try wrapping the wing like as with angel wing but that the joint was enlarged and it may not work. Sure enough, it didn't work. So my little guy can't fly, but will his deformity affect him in any other way...
