Ran out the coop begging for treats as usual this morning, so I'm thinking she just bit off more than she could chew (this is our lovely lil runner who we have seen eating frogs, toads, mice...) of something and it took a while to get down. Still keeping an eye on her, but she is definitely no...
We have a security camera inside their coop (which comes in handy!) and I've been watching her. She is hanging out by their water and taking sips every once in a while. I have yet to see her sit and rest or eat at all. She is still making the gagging/jerking motion periodically, but is alert and...
My ducks were prone to bumblefoot for a while (we changed their substrate and it seems to have relented), and in the midst treatment with antibiotics (we did both topical and oral) one duck actually lost her back toe. Obviously this isn't ideal, but she healed totally fine and no worse for wear...
Hey all. I hope you can ease my mind a little bit. I just put my dear ducks in for the night and one of my darling Indian Runner Ducks was making a strange repeated motion with her body on and off. It almost seemed like whole body gagging/retching or a whole body hiccup. She was on her feet but...

We have four female ducks. They all quack wildly so I very much assume all are definitely female. But we very rarely -- only a handful of times - have gotten four eggs. It is usually three. We have a pekin who we know lays as we've seen it happen. Then a blue Swedish and two runners, who haven't...
Great to hear that not only is it normal, it is "happy duck" behavior. She doesn't do it to any of the ducks in particular, and she does it ALL THE TIME so it really looks goofy. Glad to hear it is so normal!
So far she seems to be walking a little better. Sores are the same but she is favoring the leg a little less. Limping but at least managing to put weight on it. We did decide to wrap her feet up for a little while just to see if it would help her waking. It seemed to help some, although we took...
I am worried I have not caught it early. Last weekend was when she first started to seem off, sitting down a bit more than usual, and this week has been terrible, raining every day, so there has been little duck time. Today was the first day she limped at all, but looking at her feet is seems...
I am 90% sure my pekin has bumblefoot. Poor ducky. I don't even know where to begin. We're going to start with the epsom soaks and local antibiotics and see if it gets better. If it doesn't get better maybe will try the home treatment, but it is on such a wily duck that I don't know what to do...
The Swedish is probably our nicest duck... If it is a drake, it is a very polite drake. This duck basically leaves all the other ducks alone. The naughty duck is a totally female, loud quacking runner.
Purportedly all ducks were supposed to be girls. They all did the peep peep QUACK as babies. Fast forward to six months old. Three ducks quack their heads off. Fourth duck chatters but no quack. No drake feather... No drake voice... No drake hormonal sexual behaviors... But no quack. Three eggs...
They are in a chicken wire fence during the day but locked up nice at night. I don't think anything could have gotten her but something during the day could have... She does seem to be molting a bit but she is down to plucked bald in this spot. Poor baby.
