Quote: I agree. You can tell a lot from their muffs. I would say my boys tend to have mohawks while my girls like you said, have a large poof look.

    What breed is she/he? (Pics)

Its weird if its a leghorn roos because this is my brown leghorn who is a week or so younger and is clearly a rooster in compairson. So if it is a leghorn, I would have to say pullet. So maybe its a Silver penciled rock.

The males are always a little larger but more importantly I look at their combs. Roosters will develop a much wider comb then the pullets. Its very notciable...

OK, at two weeks into this, I feel kind of sorry for the poor things.

Let them out of the cage. Trust me, they will nto travel far. I will say there is a nigh and day difference in my meaties from being in the brooder, to being out free ranging on the grass int he sun. They act more like regular chicks now. Well, fat chicks. They wattle around the yard. Take naps...

Is this really a silver laced wyandotte?

Looks just like my Brown Leghorn. Wyandottes can have that comb but it is incorrect. Sorry. SLW would be black with the chicpmonk pattern on its back.

White Rock X - What to do with them?

I put mine out at 2 weeks old. I think it just depends on where you live and the temps. Mine are now 3 weeks old and no where near feathered out but its 89 degrees today and thats not factoring in the humidity. Mine lay in the sun when they are cooler and in the shade when they are hot and they...
