    Help! Sick Hen!

It's been over 100 degrees for at least 10 days in a row. What about the rest of my flock? should I treat everyone? Will a regular feed store have what I need? Thank you Leadwolf1 & neOnchicken. I appreciate your help!

    Help! Sick Hen!

She's eating just fine. She ate everything I gave her at first. I put some more broccoli in there that she hasen't eaten, but she had already settled in for the night. I'll check in here in the morning and see if anyone else has responded. NeOnchicken sounds like she could be on to something...

    Help! Sick Hen!

Hi, I have a hen that is very sick. She is weak, has diarria and her comb is purple instead of red. She has dropped a ton of weight (couldn't tell thru all the fluffy feathers, but there's nothing left of her under that). I just brought her in the house and she's in a dog crate in my bathroom...

Help! Broody hen turning on chicks!

Thanks. I guess I could give it another, closely watched, try. They are afraid of her at this point, but they cry when I take her out. To make it worse. She has been gone from the flock so long that the other hens are attacking her, so I have to keep her seperate. She's in with my other broody...

    Sitting Hens. Advice needed.

I have 2 sitting hens. I had three but one abandoned last night. My fault, I moved her and her three eggs off the floor and into a nest. It seemed all was fine when she climbed back on them after eatting and drinking, but this morning she was back in the corner on the floor and the three eggs...

What's happening to my eggs? 7 eggs a day out of 21 hens!

Thanks everyone. I think it must be the heat. I mixed some oyster shell in with their food to make sure everyone is getting some. I have it in a seperate feeder in the coop, but it never seems to dissappear. They have a really large run with lots of shade. In fact it will be raining wild grapes...

What's happening to my eggs? 7 eggs a day out of 21 hens!

Can anyone help me figure out what is wrong with my hens? I have 21 hens (and one roo) about two years old. They have slowed to about 6 to 7 eggs a day. They used to be big eggs and now they are small, and the shells are thin. The girls seem to be behaving normally and I just don't have any idea...

    Everyone's picking on one hen

Hi folks, I just posted in the Buy-Sell-Trade section, but thought I might get some advice here. Buttercup is the only survivor of last spring's brood. I put her in with the others when she was about the same size, but she has been picked on her whole life out there. She is the only BO in a...

1yr old BO hen needs new home. NorCal

Buttercup is the only survivor of her brood from last spring. I put her in with the other hens when she was about the same size, but she never really became one of them. She will not leave the coop to go into the run because she is afraid of the other hens. She will go out the big door in the...

    Horse Trailer Chicken Coop?

So...I find myself in a situation where I need to leave in a hurry. I have actually found a great place I can rent cheap and bring all my animals! The problem is they used to have chickens, but their coop was not secure and they only have one chicken left, "Vivor", cuz he is the only survivor...

    chicken egg thief

Hm....I have had my egg count go down lately, and there is a big gopher snake hanging around the barn. I've never seen him in the coop. Would he be likely to climb up into the nest boxes to steal eggs?

    Bald Chickens for 7 months!

Where is my best place to get flaxseed? No alfalfa here. We have mules and alfalfa is like speed to them! We feed a pellet that has a low alfalfa, low protien, content. It may still effect the chickens though? They stand under the horse when he eats cuz he throws everything on the ground. I...

    N.Cal smoke causing egg reduction?

My girls seem stressed too. The are really complaining a lot more then ususal. I don't think it's the light, because even a nightlight on a timer for 14 hours a day in the coop will keep them laying right thru the winter. It has to be the stress and their breathing has to be effected some...

Hi Deb!! So even though my vet says Ivermectin I should try the pumpkin first? I sure like that idea better! Can you please take a look at my other post and let me know what you think? https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?pid=708996#p708996 I've been trying to figure out what...
