Chicken not able to stand very well and seems to be passing blood in water

Thank you for replying! Crumbs never even heard of: medicated chick start" I think I mislead you a bit on her age! She was not actually a baby ie one that has just come out of the egg and so she was ready to eat as the others do. The chap who we purchased her from said that she was ready to...

Chicken not able to stand very well and seems to be passing blood in water

She is not very old; we got her as a baby about 2 month's ago. She is a french hen with a beautiful dark grey, whitish and red specks. She is eating and drinking very well, but seems to be weak on her legs. She can walk a bit, but sits back down again. I cannot find anything wrong with her...

Chicken having convulsions and cold feet, eyes closed and head on floor.

Our weather is awful Suzie, windy, rainly and cold. We think it is a backlash from America. We have some pink powder that I had to their water which has minerals and vitamins and so far so good. Obviously our little one caught something that was too much for her.

Chicken having convulsions and cold feet, eyes closed and head on floor.

Ah thank you Suzie Sadly it is too late, as she passed away a short time ago! What exactly is: tetratime? We were feeding her with a syringe of water and vitamins and really thought she was pulling through, but I wonder now if we were a bit too zealous as when we picked her up, a lot of it...

Just a thread to say that our little girl has died (chicken)

We have no idea what it was she caught, but it definately had something to do with her feathers and skin as there seemed to be only half of her! At first, she was fine, but rapidly deteriated and even though she was picking up, I guess her brain was doing this due to her having convulsions etc...

Chicken having convulsions and cold feet, eyes closed and head on floor.

I would agree with you 100% if she was in pain or even distressed, but she is quite the opposite. Yesterday, she was in a terrible way ie shaking and convulsions, and now quite and peaceful. Unfortunately, we cannot afford to take her to the vet for an autopsy. So what we are going to do, is...

    Head Picking.. Stupid hens

Yes it is awful but the first taste of blood and smell does intice nasty birds to come and have a go. We used to have white hens (not sure of their proper name) and they were awful to each other. However, a neighbour gave us some purple substance and the effect was amazing! And because the...

SANDY: cold weather Chicken loosing feathers and going blind

Hi, I am no expert and therefore cannot say what is exactly the matter, but we have a very sick chicken and I know what it feels like to have no one respond! I hate to say this, but what ever it is taking her eye sight, that is probably her lot in life and unless you are willing to hand feed...

Chicken having convulsions and cold feet, eyes closed and head on floor.

Thank you so much FlyHigher. Horribly the closest of the list you gave, is the worst ie Marek's! I think she must be in a coma because she is not moving, her head is lying on the ground and her legs splayed out and yet despite the apparent death state, she is breathing steadily. No more...

Chicken having convulsions and cold feet, eyes closed and head on floor.

Thank you for replying. No it is neither and in this case, sadly, because it still means we have no idea. She has stopped convulsing and is no longer shaking, but what is left is far worse to my mind! She has her legs sprayed out and her head is very floppy and eyes closed. The only thing...

Chicken having convulsions and cold feet, eyes closed and head on floor.

I have searched and researched to find out what the heck is wrong with our little girl. At fiirst, the only thing wrong was it appearing as though half of her was missing and her feathers sort of coming away but not falling off (no feathers in the ground). But her toilet was fine and she was...

It is not to do with moulting now - our chicken is close to death and we have no idea what is the ma

Thank you for your reply. There really is not a lot more I can explain. Again, she is struggling to stay alive; like an internal something or other. I have checked her and there are no mites on her. She does keep scratching behind one of her wings, but when I checked, no crawling things...

It is not to do with moulting now - our chicken is close to death and we have no idea what is the ma

It was suggested that she was moulting. However, things have DRASTICALLY changed! She is weak; cannot stand on her own feet; off her food. Eyes are closed and she is shaking. I sense and inner struggle going on to stay alive, but feel her life ebbing away!! They have powder put into their...

Our chicken looks as though she is falling to bits!!!

I had not thought about that, because it is the worst case of malting that I have seen, but since you say yours are worse, then I think that is probably the case. Thanks so much for replying.

Our chicken looks as though she is falling to bits!!!

I have taken some pictures of her. I had to lift her out of her box and so she was very docile and yet when I put her on the ground, she literally bounded out and ran to her food and was just as the other ones. She also went to the toilet and it was normal. Yet despite all this, she is -...

Our female rabbit has just started to attack me, but not my husband

Thanks for that. Not sure how old she is, but she is by no means a baby. And to be honest, we are rather reluctant to see if Tuppense is a male as they do not react very well when we tried before to check our other ones. I am hoping it is because she is pregnant as it is no fun trying to...

Our female rabbit has just started to attack me, but not my husband

For about a couple of week's now, our rabbit, sixpense attacks me when I give her food. I have to now wear gloves. this does not happen to my husband. We have two rabbits and decided on getting them, that we wanted two females, since we have had the hassle of littles ones before ( at first...

One of our turkey's is very ill

What a heart warming response - thank you so very much! The problem is that here in France, where I live (from the uk), the general attitude is one that animals are there to either eat or hunt. I generally get laughed at when I am craddling our animals in my arms - but I don't give a hoot...

One of our turkey's is very ill

Thank you. I am so glad I joined this site because it is heart warming to not have my feelings laughed at! We have 14 chickens, 3 ducks, 2 rabbits, 2 ginny fowl and now 2 turkeys. The worst part is having to wait for hubby to get home and do the deed of burying!!
