Thank you. We have discovered that I'm getting 2 duck eggs and about 3 chicken eggs a day. At first the ducks were laying outside by the pool. Now they're laying in the coop on the floor. The chickens still seem to lay where ever they want. I've gotten some plastic eggs and put them in the...
I've just started getting eggs from my birds and can't tell if some of them are duck or chicken eggs. My ducks are only 6-7 months old, but some of my eggs are rather big. I have 5 that are the size of XL chicken eggs, 4 white and 1 green. The duck breeds are Rowans (sp?) and Buffs. My...
Ok, everyone I was thinking of breeding my Porchelain D'Uccles (2 hens and 1 roo). Would anyone here be interested in buying some chicks? I'm not ready to sell eggs yet, I'd like to hatch some out first to see how they do. Here are some pictures taken with my cell phone of my D'Uccles. I...
Welcome,
I'd go for building a wooden coop and if you can just run an extention cord to it for a heat lamp in the winter. If you can put in vents that don't really allow drafts in that's great, think under the eve of the roof. We're putting on 2 windows that will be just hardware cloth and...
So we went for a hike with some friends and apon coming home a neighbor brought some friends over and they handed me a little duckling and asked me to care for it. I have no problems being able and willing to care for a bird. They said they found it near a fast moving river and that it was all...

I actually thought about that, but i dont know how they would cope with unoxygenated water that is contaminated with duck poop. Plus its in the wide open, so i dont know how they would deal with the direct sun, especially on 100 degree days. I dont have much knowledge on fish, so i dont...
Yeah, I just did a google search on mallard ducklings and ran across a picture of a wood duckling and it looked just like this baby. I so hope it's a male. We were going to order wood ducklings but the price was enough to stop me this year. Was planning on it next year though. My boyfriend...

They usually sell the animals at the end of the season too. I need a lamb to help cut my grass........ Got to get a little barn for it first and a run to keep it safe when I'm not home. It'll probably need a friend too.
oohhh, maybe I can coax my hubby into it over the next few...
I have a 2 week old that at only a week old strutted when I introduced a new week old baby to the brooder. I'm guessing I've got a boy and he's going to be a hand full, lol.

Rabbit hutches are easy. I just built one by myself. Just get some 4x4 for the legs and a plywood top and sides, but make sure there is wire on the inside or the rabbits will chew the wood and get out. A wire bottom and wire front with a door. I couldn't find the clips I wanted for...

I hatched out a Red Bourbon/Black Spanish 2 weeks ago and that little bugger is growing fast. Here's what I did, I got 2 eggs from the feed store for free, laid by some hens that were sold to them to resell. One was a dud, oh and this was only my second time trying to hatch birds, the first...
I toss slugs and snails in the run too. The ducks eat most of them. The little ones the chickens will eat, but the larger ones they just peck to death. Sure they may not eat them, but they still have fun killing them, gets the job done.

That's too funny. My boyfriend has been great and at first didn't want but a few. Then it was I could get more as long as I got him a white silkie. Now, it's I can have as many as I want as long as I provide all the care and food. But he's got to provide the labor of building the...
Oh how cool. I'm hoping to one day get a cockatiel egg and hatch in out in a bator. I see too many cockatiel babies in the stores that are 'hand raised' that hiss and try to bite to want to spend the money on one of them.
I've got a homemade bator. It's styrofoam. We bought a light fixture (for a lamp) and put that on the side and use a 40 watt bulb, used a 9x9 metal pan with water and a thermostate that turns the light on and off depending on the need, we took some hardware cloth that was strong enough to hold...
Where are you living now? Go to the Where am I? Where are you! thread and find the state you live in and post for some help. I'm sure you'll find someone in your area that can incubate the eggs for you. What kind of duck is it? You might have a set of eggs that would be illegal to have, if so...
