The time has come for our farm to be developed into housing. We do not know where we will be relocating at this point and need to find a good home for our 3 roosters and about 40 chickens. We easily get over a dozen eggs a day when laying is good. The chicks originally come from the McMurray...
1 - White Giant - All mine had very big combs at this age. The rooster was quite obvious by then so I think you might have a hen there.
2 - Columbian Wyandotte - If her tail feathers are barely there at this point and are blacke with white tips. They have very round bodies. SO cute. We kept...
Welcome! Since some chickens look similar colorwise, we need closer up pictures of the feather patterns, color feet, type of comb etc. Can you post some better pics?
I try to bring my sweetie andalusian in, but my hubby gets mad at me and says, "NO CHICKENS IN THE HOUSE!!!". LOL. She's my little cuddle hen and would watch TV with me if I let her.
Anyway to bring my grass back with foraging chickens? There ain't much left. We are considering adding a lawn on the other side of the coop and letting them ruin that side while the other side gets new sod. Ideas?
I'm in San Diego.
I have two andalusians that keep hopping our fence to go exploring. We live on a nursery and cars zip around on the road they walk across and I would prefer that they stayed in the yard. Can I clip their wings? I don't think a taller fence would help as they currently fly straight up about 8...

We noticed that one of our polish's tail feathers have been ripped out and are bleeding. I'm guessing a predator reached in and ripped them out as it doesn't look like another hen could do that. The feathers are still partially in so you can see the shafts and see the blood pooled in them...
Who needs an earring? My sweetie pie splash Andalusian who loves my shoulder (8 wks) likes to full on bite my ear and then shake her head. Oweee....I've learned to wear sunglasses too. She seems to have a fascination with eye lashes.
Mine get put in a box every night. While crowing still occurs, it is muffled enough. My roosters still crow if they can't stand up all the way but it definitely doesn't travel as far. Now if I can only get them to stop crowing all day long in unison. It's driving ME nuts.
We get amazing cross spiders here. I had one outside my bathroom window for the longest time. "Charlie" (short for Charlotte) always had the most intricate webs. I was always sad when a moth ruined them. The problem here is when you walk out in the morning to find that a spider has created a...
