@ Opa, Seems there are still a few of us old school people left in this world. I bet she'd like some of those farm fresh eggs!! Nice trade off for a hunk of chain like that.
PS Happy Late Birthday!
You should see your Top Hats...they are a riot. They taught themselves to go into their pen at night in about 4 days. They come up to swim in the kiddie pool all day long. My geese still dont tollerate them in the pool at the same time, but at least there is no fighting. The drake just starting...
I feed mine a mixture of greens, grains and some cracked corn. As they havent ate much at all this summer with having 10 acres of pasture to share with the horses. So I was wondering what everyone finds as a good mix to keep them in excellent condition in the cold winters.
Until you hear them crow, dont assume they are roosters. I have LF here , Cochins that I swore at about 10 wks they were roosters, they are not and I so glad I didnt sell/place them. Some hens have larger waddles then others. Please wait until you know for sure.

Olive you are so right. I only feed mash to all of my birds. My LF Cochins and Light Brahmas I use in the corner of their coop, the old fashion cook/stew pots and I fill them half way full which holds a lot of feed. I then lay a cinder block cross ways in the front for them to step up onto and...

The ISA's are a med sized bird. Not much meat to them at all. But being color sex linked you know you have all hens. Their eggs are Large to Jumbo and they will lay usually one a day. I cannot say enough about how friendly they are. Mine follow me around while Im doing chores, talking...
FLYINGFCHICK Our first ISA was so friendly and curious that we went and got 2 more from Opa. They are by far our favorites. I would love to see them free range to see what mischief

I know first hand what damage they can do. Some friends from the city came up for the weekend to fish. Out on the inland private lake we go. There must have been 200 canadian geese on the shore with babies. Ron says, Id like to catch one of the babies just to feel its down. I said you are out of...
My first attack was a couple months ago when they were still breeding. I had purchased 2 goslings and had them in a huge walk in cage with some ducklings to calm them down, they were parent raised and about 4 wks old. I left the door open for a second and one escaped and ran after my sebbies...
Whats not to love about geese?
If Im late to letting them out of their night house, I get yelled at from all sides.
If I dont have a fresh pool BEFORE I let them out Im yelled at again.
3 of the goslings I raised from day olds, if Im not outside enough during the day to give them treats Im...
