Yep, they take turns being dominant the goofy darn things and the female goose hangs with the ducks and the males are breeding with her. I am at a lose as what to do. They all free range during the day and coop up at night together.
Ok I have an update...The Toulouse is a male! The brown Chinese is a female! the white is a male also. The Toulouse and the white are mating and best buds. The brown is mating with the ducks! What the heck, why did the males decide to bond? I am so confused with these geese
They are 10 months old. The white and brown hang out together all the time and the African is kind of the loner or off to the side by itself. I thought the brown one was a female cause it was pretty quiet until It started hissing a week or so ago.
I thought I had the sexes figured out but now I am not sure.
This one just started Hissing
the white one is really loud and the African is pretty loud also At least one of these 3 is laying eggs haven't caught which one yet.
Hello :) I just got a almost 1 yr old BR Tom and he has no snood. When he fans out it, the spot it should be swells a little. It appears it was there at one point because it looks like it healed in that spot. The people I got him from said he never had one and it may be genetics that he doesn't...
Day 22 pipping started. Humidity was at 66 last night almost all had pipped. This morning when I got up humidity has dropped to 44! Yikes. I upped it right away. No hatching yet. I sure hope they aren't shrink wrapped. Do you think they will be ok?
I let mine run 24 hours with out opening. I add small amount of water through plug holes. I never go by the temp or humidity reader on unit. It is never right. I put my readers under each window and monitor from window. After 24 hrs I will slightly move knob to adjust temp if needed. But really...
First hatch of the year. Threw some silkie mixed in to see what the will look like. I should have some pretty birds. I have all silkie hens as far as I can tell and my regular roo's are silver and white...tnd gold, brown and white. I was really hoping for a silkie roo but they are 13 months old...
Thanks guys :) I can't wait...it sure does beat me doing all the work lol I am enjoying not having to monitor temp and humidity! I love to hatch but I did 3 batches this spring and needed a break was gonna wait till spring but oh I have missed the little chicks so I am excited only 2 weeks to go!
My production reds looked like yours at that age and within a week to 2 weeks they were red. My hen is sweet but the roos were mean to other birds and had to go. I sent them to the freezer at 15 weeks. I didn't order them they were added for extra warmth suppose to be all males but I got one girl :)
Good Morning :) Processed my first batch of birds did 7. They were 15 wk old roos that where already a problem. I cut heads, hung to bleed. Had water bath at 145-150 degrees. Dipped for about 30 seconds checked feathers dipped again until wing feather seemed to remove easily. Most feathers came...
