Thanks guys for your replies! I have been gone all day and so was unable to get pictures (getting dark now, so will try tomorrow). The gape worms actually fits the symptoms pretty well, so I have started her on treatment for that (and the rest of the flock). I have given her yogurt already, she...
My guinea hen is sick. She is about 4 months old. I have had her on antibiotics under a heat lamp for several days (she can get away from the heat lamp, but she generally sits right next to it. She is eating and drinking less--I don't think she has eaten at all today.

I forgot how much guinea keets sound like squeaky toys (eeEE eeEE), especially compared to their chick "siblings."
Here are photos of my bunch:
Keets and one chick:
and naptime--love the pile of fluff!
I have added new hens a couple of times. I always quarantine for a bit, then let them freerange together for a bit during the day--so there is plenty of room to get away or mingle (but they still return to "their" coops each night). Eventually they become one flock (at least, so far that has...
this time of year (depending on where you are) the heat could have gotten to her, as well. liquids are definitely the most important!
Let us know how she is doing tomorrow
well, I don't know if it is the vitamins or what, but she is doing better. She is definitely smaller than her siblings, but seems to have gotten back some energy and is actually standing up (still with shoes and brace--but I'll take it!).
Thank you to all who have helped in this post and...
well, I don't know for sure what is going on with yours, but I had a rhode island red get sick about a month ago. no obvious symptoms except lethargy, ruffled feathers. I put into the bathroom off my mudroom b/c I didn't have anywhere else to quarantine her (the spare coop was being occupied...
pretty sure the horse encephalitis is different, so you shouldn't be any any trouble there even if you hadn't take the precautions you had.
not sure what state you are in, but if there is a county extension office that would be a great place to start. ours has direct connections with Va Tech...
thank you--that is what I am afraid of. but in a way, I am glad to hear that sometimes treatments just don't work and it isn't that I am just not doing it right (if that makes sense--I really think I am doing the right thing, but I was worried since it just doesn't seem to be helping).
I do...
I am so sorry for what you are dealing with. And it definitely sounds like they came with a disease (not that you had any doubt, but sometimes it helps to hear it from someone else too).
Encephalomyelitis was my (very uneducated) guess. I haven't faced it yet (hopefully never will), but I...
Not quite a week, five days old.
I have bandaid braces to help her splay legs (couldn't find small enough rubber band unfortunately), little cardboard shoes to help her toes straighten out, and she still doesn't want to stand. She just sits back on her hocks. It seems like she is getting worse...
