I have two 3 week old chicks that were in a plastic brooder. Two little ones hatched this morning, so I need to put them in the plastic brooder, so I fixed up my large dog crate and moved the 3 week olds in there about an hour ago. They are now making so much noise, like they're really...
Mutt 2 aka Sennetta. This ones mum is a Bluebelle and dad White Leghorn.
They're currently cheeping away in the brooder, alternating between pecking each other and sleeping :)
Baby hatched sometime this morning whilst I was still asleep! So I have 2 super cute barnyard mutts to add to my collection :) Thanks for the help and advice xxx
Been doing it on and off all day! :) Going to bed now, as I was up until 3am incy watching last night, then awake at 8 watching it again. It's been a tough day having to cull for the first time, then this problem :(
No movement or noise for quite some time now :( Not having much luck with this hatch :( Only one more pipped, and that was around the same time last night. Will give it until the morning.
Me again! :(
So this little one pipped last night sometime (bearing in mind, I'm in the U.K,it's 23.08 here now). It must be coming up to 24 hrs. In the last hour or so, this blood has appeared, along with the yellow colour in the water channel. Egg is still rocking and chick is still peeping...
I culled. The poor little thing ended up being smaller than the sack :( Feel awful, but I know it was for the best. Thank you for all your help and advice xxx
This little one hatched a couple of hours ago. It was an unassisted hatch on day 20. When she first hatched, there was nothing to be seen, but as time has passed this appeared, small at first, but gradually increasing in size. What could it be? It started out pink, but is now yellow, with veins...
To be honest, I've only done 2 hatches in my incy :) First hatch I got 6 from 10 and this one currently has 4 pipped from 6. The reading that I've done suggests 30/40% for days 1-18,then anywhere between 60/75% for days 19-21%.I'm on day 20 and my hygrometer is reading 70% :)
Just thought I'd share a pic of my broody Speckledy Matilda. She hatched 6 chicks over the last 2 days. She is so calm with me, all the way through, she's let me stroke her and check on her eggs. The only time she's pecked was when I was checking on her and there was a newly hatched baby...
