The Muscovy Male or Female Guessing Game 😁

Well Bob hasn’t tried to mate any of them; I would’ve thought if they were females he would be after them. I thought they looked like three drakes. I was hoping for a female xx

The Muscovy Male or Female Guessing Game 😁

Hello lovely backyard chickeners 😄 I have 3 month old ducklings. Reared by Pip my female Muscovy. So are these male or female? They’re still doing the duckling squeak. No hissing either. What do you think? Thank you 😍 Ps. Bob is the dad and has loathed them all since they hatched. Pps...

When do I separate the ducklings and mum?

Thank you I for all your replies xx Well tonight the duckings took themselves off to bed and she stayed out with Bob. So I popped them in the shed together. Good idea about giving her a choice ❤️ Now I’ve just got to figure out which are males and which are females 🤦🏼‍♀️

When do I separate the ducklings and mum?

I separated them all to stay with because Bob was pecking the duckings. Outside they can run away but I thought in the shed - there is no space to escape xx

When do I separate the ducklings and mum?

Hi everyone. My Muscovy female has been a very attentive and aggressively protective mummy to her three babies. The duckings are 9 weeks old now. She’s not hovering around them as much as she was and seems to be spending a bit more time with Bob the male muscovey (daddy). At night I have been...

Help! Muscovy hen, eggs and imminent hatching!

Hi we are at day 34. My female Muscovy Pip has been very diligent & hardly moved off the nest. Today we found this egg pushed out the nest. I tried to pop it back in but she pecked it very aggressively. We opened it up and Fully formed and dead. Anyone else experienced this?

Hi everyone. I’m the UK. My paired Muscovy’s Bob & Pip, share a shed together. She’s been sitting on her eggs for two weeks now. She only comes out in the morning and about 6pm evening. Broody Muscovy behaviour advice needed please

You’re all so lovely for taking the time to reply. Thank you 💕 I need to clean them out tomorrow. Will she stop nesting if I have to disturb the nest? I will gather up and save it as best I can. We (me and my four daughters) are so excited that she’s sitting! 💕

Broody Muscovy behaviour advice needed please

Hi. Thank you for the advice. When she sits on her eggs my drake gets lonely and comes to the front door to come inside. I don’t think he bothers her but he was trying to mate with her this morning. I don’t think he’s forcing her away from her eggs by trying to mate but I will keep an eye out...

Broody Muscovy behaviour advice needed please

I have a male and female Muscovy Bob&Pip. They share a shed. Pip has laid about 7 eggs last week. This week she has made a feathered nest in the corner. Pics attached. 1) she doesn’t spend a lot of time sitting on them. She’s in and out of the shed mainly out. Is this normal? Won’t they get...

Is this normal chicken behaviour? 😩

Ah ok- I understand- the ratio was ok when they were young but not appropriate now. The run you saw was the run attached to their house; I leave the door open- They free range all day in the garden. He’d chased her back into the run when I filmed. I’ve been trying to rehome the cockerels but...

Is this normal chicken behaviour? 😩

It was horrible to watch. It suddenly started today. I have no idea what to do with him now. No one wants cockerels. Even pretty boys like him :(

Is this normal chicken behaviour? 😩

I’ve separated the grey cockerel. He’s in a large cage in my garage. Brownie seems nervous to join the rest of them now 🙁 she was hiding in a bush
