At what age can i put my ducks with my drake?

I have two 12 week old silver appleyards I'd like to put In with my drake in the main flock. Are they old enough? If not, when would it be safe to do so. I do have 2 other ducks as well. So hopefully it will be an OK ratio.

    Broody chicken ate a chick

Yup I have a full feeder and waterer in there. She successfully hatched 2 clutches of 10 eggs last year. I don't know what to do with her. She's been very aggressive to my other chickens and now this. I'm beyond frustrated at her killing a sweet little baby. I've reached out to a local...

    Broody chicken ate a chick

My old English bantam Orpington mixed hen has always been a great mom but she's showing concerning behaviors this season. She's been sitting for 24 days on about 22 eggs from herself and other hens. We've had 6 chicks hatch. One became shrink wrapped and died. I suspect she pecked it as it was...

Broody hen isn't eating or drinking

Hello! I have a diehard hen sitting on eggs and boy is she grumpy. In the past she has gotten off to eat or drink once a day but she's not budging. I gave her some blueberries yesterday but I'm concerned about her dehydrating. Do I put a hamster water bottle in her nesting box or what?

    What’s with this egg?

Is this because I mix the oyster shell in their food?

    What’s with this egg?

One of my ee chickens keeps laying this type of blue banded egg. I noticed today there’s black raised spots all over it. Is this considered pimpling? I feed them 7 way, all flock pellets, and oyster shell daily. Is this potentially a health issue?

    Avian Flu 2022 South Carolina

It was North Carolina that issued the quarantine suggestion. That’s why I was wondering because I know we’ve had a few random reports in South Carolina. I wish your flock the best as well! I know geese are one of the risky transmitters.

    Avian Flu 2022 South Carolina

Good morning, I saw that the NCDA&CS has recommended to essentially keep poultry quarantined in their coops for 30 days from yesterday. I live in Western Upstate South Carolina so I kept mine up yesterday. They’re already getting stir crazy. How serious is the risk of them contracting it? How...

I accidentally ripped all her tail feathers out!!!

Thanks everyone, unfortunately poor Periwinkle is not having the best luck: someone pooped on her yesterday so now she’s in the infirmary so I can bathe her 😬 she definitely hates me now.

I accidentally ripped all her tail feathers out!!!

Thank you so much. It’s hard not to feel bad with the way she screamed. My husband thought someone was killing a cat outside. Thanks again for your response I was worried she may bleed out

I accidentally ripped all her tail feathers out!!!

My olive egger, Periwinkle, was in the trees and we’re about to have a heavy snow. When I tried to grab her she jumped down and I ended up ripping out a fist full of tail feathers. I read there are blood feathers back there but it’s very dark to tell if she’s going to bleed. Her rump is bare now...
