Another newbie here; I just want to guess and then see if I'm right when somebody who knows what they're talking about weighs in.

Amazing! I've only ever seen the skinny little ones that squeeze through fence bars and steal dog food, or the occasional unfortunate cat. I guess that's what we get for trying to build homes so close to their homes.
Holy Moley! That's the biggest coyote I've ever seen. Are you sure it's not a little wolf? Ha! Around here the coyotes are not nearly so statuesque - they're smaller and more sneaky looking (if that's a thing, lol).
...managed to climb the gate and get into the brooder and just sniffed and sat with ALL the chicks. (Did I mention these are very small dogs?)
So it *seems* to have worked. I still don't trust the dogs too much (they're still just puppies), and the chickens will eventually be in a dog proof...
Ordered 25. Got 27. All are alive and peeping. My only issue with them is I ordered all females, and my "free rare breed chick" is (I'm pretty sure) a male, lol. So not really an issue, I'm just going to be sad to see him go. He's beautiful.
Wow! That's interesting. I never thought about giving suet, but if we give it to wild birds in the winter, I can't imagine my chickens wouldn't appreciate some, too. And fish sounds like it should be healthy for them. Loads of omega3s and whatnot.
