    Turkey Poult Leg Injury

My bronze turkey poult is around 3-4 weeks old and was developing normally. Yesterday I noticed it was slightly limping and it’s leg looks swollen. No known injury but they have been flighty recently and trying to roost. Still eating and drinking but it is a little “puffed up” which makes me...

My newly hatched gosling may have some serious problems but I really don't know!!! HELP!!! (please read)

I think it took about 24 hours in the cup in the incubator. It was the last to hatch and I just upped the humidity quite a bit so it didn’t dry out and it was the only one in there. I would not put it with other babies until the yolk is absorbed.

My newly hatched gosling may have some serious problems but I really don't know!!! HELP!!! (please read)

I’ve had this issue a couple times when I assisted Chicks in hatching and unfortunately it is why I don’t help them anymore. The only chick I had luck with I wrapped in a moist paper towel and placed in a teacup back in the incubator until it absorbed most of the yolk and then it ended up with a...

Chick with abnormal wing & labored breathing

I have a chick that hatched on 5/16/20. When it hatched it appeared normal and healthy except it’s left wing was completely backwards and already had black feathers on it instead of fluff which I have never seen. It was supposed to be a crested cream legbar but it doesn’t look like one to me...

    Eye Feathers

Thank you for searching. It’s happy at the moment so I’m just going to watch it. The hen that laid the egg was my only Polish and I’ve tried incubating her eggs twice with only a 10% hatch rate when my others were close to 90% so I didn’t plan on incubating her eggs anymore but this sealed the deal.

    Eye Feathers

I pulled out one feather, but I can’t even find the second long one. When I went to pull it pulled the lid taut and these are attached way on the inside of the lid. The eye looks clean right now so I hope it stays that way

    Eye Feathers

That’s what I’m thinking especially with more feathers already growing in

    Eye Feathers

I’m going to try to tweeze them tonight, but there’s already more starting to grow in all along both eyes. I’m considering culling because I feel it will be in pain most of its life.

    Eye Feathers

I had a chick hatch on Saturday with two long feathers coming from the inside of the eyelid. It seemed to be fine but now the feathers are sticking to the eyeball and I can’t keep them back. It’s eye is goopy and a little puffy at this point. I will try to get an updated picture tonight, but...

Severe buffalo gnat attack chicks barely alive

Yes those are the showgirls! Two silkies didn’t make it.

Severe buffalo gnat attack chicks barely alive

Lost 2 silkies that night and one made it. It was really odd that my 3 black silkies were attacked the most and my white, buff, and paint didn’t even have bites on them. I’m spraying permethrin every few days because we’be been getting so much rain and it’s helping a little bit. They also have a...

    Humidity Issues

I’ve been busy so I just got around to candling today and the results are awful. I expect to have a few eggs not develop or stop for whatever reason, but half of this hatch had died. Almost all with blood rings. I opened a few to see what was going on and they all looked about a week into...

Severe buffalo gnat attack chicks barely alive

Unfortunately two died last night, but the other is doing okay. Right now we have a fan on them to help. I also put out dryer sheets and vanilla on them since that’s all I had on hand. We live really rural, but after work today I’m going to get nutridrench, electrolytes, and permethrin. I am...

Severe buffalo gnat attack chicks barely alive

Three of my 8 week old silkie chicks (all 3 black) were alive and thriving a few hours ago and when I went to put them up for the night they were limp and almost lifeless. Absolutely covered in buffalo gnats and bleeding. I’m out of sav a chick but I syringed water and corn syrup and brought...

    Humidity Issues

Thank you! I’ll try some dry sponges when I get home! Our dehumidifier recently broke or we would definitely have it running. This humidity is miserable

    Humidity Issues

I’m having problems keeping my humidity down. Only on day 5 and since day 2 the humidity keeps spiking. I usually dry hatch with the humidity in my incubator staying between 40-50 and that creates great hatches for me. Currently my humidity in my incubator is bouncing between 55-70. The humidity...

    Silkie/Showgirl

My showgirls and silkie are 7-8 weeks old now and I still have no clue on the sex. I’ve read a lot of tips but they really all look the same except for the reddish/buff one that stands tall like a cockerel. Here’s some pictures, it was a little breezy so they were hiding their necks a bit. And...
