I would guess its not impacted if its soft, right? And YES sour crop smells like rotten droppings (like droppings could smell worse LOL)...it is unmistakable. I only have two silkies, and have experienced it. The vinegar is a miracle cure for it tho. Could it hurt to try a little cider...

Oh and yes an impacted crop can have those symptoms!! My silkie has been sick, and I spoke with the breeder and she told me silkies are "very dramatic" LOL, most everything will make them stumbly and tired.

does she have a smell? can you rub her crop gently, see if its full and check for odor? if an odor occurs its probably sour crop. You can give her 1/4 tsp of cider vinegar in a dropper. and see if she perks up. keep me posted!

i am no expert but how long has she been lethargic? one of my girls had a lazy couple days, i became worried and contacted a friend (expert chicken lover)...she said to feed her a few grapes to give her energy. so i cut em up, bite size and it did the trick. good luck, keep me posted. amber

Adorable!!

They are silkies! Cute and loveable silkies. This morning we took Shirley out as soon as we opened the coop and she did all her nasty morning poop outside. Think we are gonna try to do that each day vs the doggy pads I've been putting down.

Wow so did you train Tilly?? Or did she just figure it out herself? I'd love it if they would go outside in the morning...the do wait until i let them out of their coop and i've seen the egg sized poos too, my husband gasped when he saw it the first time! Couldn't believe such a tiny thing...

That is adorable! I never really thought chickens had personality but mine do (and Tilly sounds like a real fun chicken!). Very different personalities. And I've noticed they "know" me now. I let them out of their "coop" in the morning and i clean, water, feed them every day. So i guess...
