I wouldn't dare try that. She treats me too good. She did joke around about sending me down there.

I used about a dozen TapCon screws to anchor it to the foundation.

Thank you guys for the complements. Now that some of my friends have seen it they want to build one like it and get some chickens.

The foundation was a necessity because of the grade of the hill side. It just happened to work out that we were having our drive way poured in concrete so I was able to form it up and have them order a little extra on one of the trucks and just pour it that way. Between the hardware cloth and...

Jetdog, I had hoped to be done by now. Winter is refusing to let go of its icy grip. Last weekend we got an inch of sleet/ice with 8" of snow on top of that. So between the weather and not feeling well with a bad head cold I didn't get to do much on it. The weather finally starting warming...

They metal would work fine for covering the plywood. They make a special screw for the metal that has a rubber washer on it just for the metal.

The siding is called 8" channel rustic siding. It is a white pine lap style siding that has a rough saw finish on the face to make it look more rustic. It is the same siding we have on our house and the wife wanted the coup to match the house. I buy it locally here at a supplier that specializes...

The siding is nailed so it would be a bear to get it off. I could just take the saw and cut 4" out of the top and trim it again. I may add a 2" board to the bottom and see how it works for them. It is 14" tall right now and I am sure they could fit without trouble if it was 12". Thanks for all...

I feel like I am on the home stretch now. The girls helped this weekend with staining while I was putting on the siding and building the nest box. We had beautiful weather this weekend but it looks like old man winter is returning tomorrow. The only regret I have about what I did this weekend...

The weather still is not cooperating. I did put the bottom plate on the foundation today. It is supposed to warm up Thursday next week and stay in the 50s. Come on spring. I have my chicks ordered for pickup on March 6th at Cackle Hatchery. We are getting 2 cinnamon queens, 2 black copper...

Well winter made a return. We have a blanket of white stuff again so I didn't get to work on the coop. I did fire up the wood stove in the shop and built the brooder for chicks I am going to order them next week for pick up at the end of February.
