My nonchicken friends say it is really strange that they follow me around like that. LOL I have never had chickens before so I don't know any different.
He is so proud to tell everyone that we have chickens now. I came home from work today and there were 6 people in the backyard and he was showing them the coop and girls.
My husband grew up living and working on a huge battery chicken egg production "farm". 52,000 chickens every X months. He really really did not want chickens.
I finally wore him down and we now have 4 Buff Orps. He built them a beautiful chicken palace. Today he was home from work, and I...
I am very new to chickens. I have 4 about 11 week old Buff Orps. I love my girls. They love to come out and free-range in our yard.
Since my dogs are trained to not even look at my parrots I began letting the dogs out while the chickens were out. My extremely fluffy sheltie will be...
My girls went on their first free-range walkabout tonight. They were so cute. When it came time to put them up, I went into their coop and shook the mealworm bag. It was like a chickie stampede!
OK, the girls have been out since last week. Every night, I go out and pick them up and put them into the hen house. They stay once I put them up there if it is dark. They do know to come down in the morning.
Will they ever learn to go up? How can I help them.
I went out a few more times tonight. Faith of course jumped into my lap. Then another one decided I must be pretty cool, so she did it too.
I gave the girls some warm mash that I make for my parrots, and they went wild for it. LOL Cooked whole cracked corn, ginger, cashews, almonds and...
She has also taken to jumping to the highest roost so that she can jump onto my shoulder. You can see her mind working out how to make her way onto me. It's so funny.
I have parrots and won't let them on my shoulders. Same goes for chickens.
I have 4 Buffs. The blondest one, who I call Faith, is such a funny girl. She jumps right up into my lap or onto my arm when I go into the pen. She'll look me straight in the eye when she does it too.
We got 4 buff orps. They are about 8 weeks. The one girl, the most blonde one I call Faith is hoot. She jumps right up onto my arm when I am out there squatting down. Yesterday she jumped from her roost onto my shoulder. LOL Goofy little girl.
My 4 girls are outside in their run/coop since Wednesday. Every night I go out and pick them up and put them up in their coop.
We had severe thunderstorm and tornado watches today. I was worried about them getting blown against the wall or something so I kept going out during the storm...
