I have had sevral chickens die. I lost chicks a few weeks ago obviously to rats. We baited and set traps but we have caught nothing. Anyways could rat bites cause death?
Ok I meant to post this earlier, but as I was letting all the chickens in from their run, I was startled to find one of my silkies huddled drooling from the mouth. She was crouched down acting as if she was egg bound. I took her into the barn and then tried to see if she had any obstructions in...
Hi everyone lately I've been dying to have some new chicks and as if on cue won of our hens Soci went broody. Now normally I'd be more excited, but she has been broody three times and yet she still isnt a mother.
My main issue is other hens kicking her out of the nestbox/going into the wrong...
Ok so our tenant has a pen, next to our run and they let the dogs run there. So anyways I assumed our one month old chicks were old enough to go out and not escape but one chick did escape and as I was trying to coax him back a dog came flying into the pen the chick snuck in to. The dog picked...
So happy to announce that we currently have not one but TWO broodies in the barn. If thats not exciting enough its a mother (Cirra) and her daughter (Soci) !!!!

Cirra is our...
I have tried incubating twice the first time I got no chicks, but the second time I got a single cockeral who died around four months. Anyhow I love hatching so much and the past three broodies have had NO chicks. So I need some help starting hatching again. Im nervous as well as excited but...
Hi everyone we have recently noticed that we have, WAY to many drakes. We have seventeen ducks total, and almost half of them are drakes! Egg production has been stopped for over three months. I recently figured out it was because of to many drakes, and to much stress on the ladies. So I have a...
It started about a week ago. I noticed one of the new chickens with cocci. To add we have never quarentined and put all eight new birds in with the rest. We left for three days and when we came home my little pullet rose was dead. I noticed all the other chickens showing symtoms of what i...
Yesterday we purchased 8 new pullets all close to laying. There are 2 delaware, 2 tetra tints, a BO, a BSL, a EE and my little BLRW who got to sit in my lap on the ride home.
Here is a TT
Miracle and her sister Hope are very special. They are two survivors from a confused mother
duck who was squishing her babies one by one as they hatched. It was awful because each baby had
pipped but withing hours they became pancakes in the bottom of the nests. It was heartbreaking and...

Is anyone interested in two drakes. They are a bit skittish as some ducks are. However if you hold them on your lap they will eat from your hand. There is a buff and a cayuga, and they can go together or separate. The cayuga has angelwing but other than that is good.
Here they are!
two lovely drakes one Cayuga and one buff. They are only a year and a half, and they need new homes we have to many drakes the hens are losing WAY to many feathers. The Cayuga drake does has angelwing but other than that is ok. We raised them since they were day olds but they are still skittish...

We have been considering quail for a while. Idk when we r going to get some but i want to start with eggs. I want to get a lovely variety of quail tht is pleasing to the eyes and fun to have around. R they harder to hatch then chickens? Ive only ever sucessfully hatched one chick so i need...
we raised our ducklings since they were day olds. They are now over a year and scared of us. I read all these stories of ducks coming when called, and love being picked up. All I have to do is walk towards ours and they bolt. I don't get why they are afraid they loved to snuggle when they were...
Here are some pics of our run!

Hey guys! We all sometimes pose our chickens for photos. If that means holding them or putting a little cloth to make it look like a saddle. Putting chicks by eggs or a hen on a rock... So i am opening this thread to anyone who wants to post posing pics of their poultry!(chickens, ducks, etc)...
