Thanks for the kind words. I've been helping a friend process Turkeys on and off for the last month. We'll be doing another 100 tomorrow in the same manner that I do chickens. They sure are a lot heavier though.

All the pics are there however I needed to refresh my screen several times for them all to show. That's the first time that's ever happened and they all show up at once on the other forums this thread is on so I expect the server here is experiencing more traffic that it can handle...
Thanks for the kind words. The process can seem daunting to some people until you break it down to one step at a time. However when you do, most things around the homestead are easy to do. After all, our forefathers routinely performed these chores without the modern tools we have today.

It's very easy to keep clean however I'm only raising 250 birds in the pen.
It's fully enclosed with chicken wire around the inside so I can roll up the sides for ventilation. Up here we're dealing with global cooling so we don't have an overheating issue however the sides roll up...

I both brood and raise them in the same pen. I had a much smaller area cordoned off inside the pen when they were smaller.
My pen is portable so I can change locations each year.

Thanks for the kind words. It's really easy to do your own birds.
I have my own plucker now and I'll be doing this years flock of meat birds in a couple of weeks. Here's a pic of them a few weeks ago:
Yummy!!

You're very welcome.
Catching chickens has become much easier as my hair has turned white---the grandchildren run them down for me now!

You're welcome and you can do it.

Yup, there's at least a couple of them in the Kingdom now, Irasburg and Derby. They're probably owned by the same corporation.
Are you in Vermont?
Yes I'm in Vermont.. oops my thing says New England.
We know the owner of the one in derby. Those are great animals!
I see the ones in...

Thank you all for the kind words. It's becoming more obvious with every salmonella outbreak that knowing how to process your own food properly is a GREAT idea.

LOL, I never even thought about the blood in the pic. We're always dressing out something around here. I have 3 lambs to do right now and I always have a dozen or so bunnies ready to dress out.
BTW, that's actually a forced grin, I don't usually having my picture taken. And I...
Harley's girl :
Um....call me silly but what do you do with the feet? You wouldn't....gulp *shivers*...um...eat them would you?
I make the best chicken stock on the planet with mine...

Thanks for the kind words! With chickens, as with many, many things in life, if you pay attention to the small details seemingly complicated tasks become much easier. Cleaning the feet (simple task) made marketing (a much more complicated issue) a breeze.
Thanks again.

Thanks again for the kind words.
No, it's not my job. I'm a homesteader, living off-grid, raising and butchering most of my own meat. I grow almost all of my own vegetables and fruit and at any time can completely live off the produce of my homestead.
Last year I raised two types of...

I thought you already did?
no,,, i sent the text,, without pics, and i was gonna send all the pics,, but never asked your permission, then forgot ( hippie moment)
As long as it's for non-commercial purposes, no problem. Thanks for asking.
Thanks for the kind words. Almost everything we do on the homestead is very simple and can be done by most anyone if they just use common sense. For example, if you can dress out a rabbit, you can dress out anything on your homestead. It just takes more space and a longer time to dress out...

hey there the1much: It's a great time saver however if you can get your hands inside your birds your finger tips will work fine. I usually do alot of birds at once so it really saves wearing out the finger tips. Have a great day dressing your brds and a tasty meal afterward!
