Thanks. I bought her from BYC members egg auction. I have some more in the incubator now but the air cells were all detatched from shipment. So, crossing my fingers for just one!!!
Thanks...he's having a rough go of it.Each day is rough.I have had him in my pocket and we do lots of leg work. It may not be enough. :(
Thanks on the peahen~
Chicks from yesterday's hatch. One little yellow guy has a leg issue which I think is totally my fault...I think he hit the slick incubator floor instead of the matting at hatch and did a split.
My peahen just cracked me up so I was sharing. She hatched a few months ago!
That's a great question...Orpington are on the large eggs side...Put some under her and see what her body covers...6 came to mind but am thinking 4-6 comfortably. Broodies would sit on as many eggs as they can get....they will steal and amass stockpiles of eggs. But, the ones on the outer edges...
If they were partially zipped when she got up they just plain could have got stuck. Sorry they didn't make it. I have had a few broodies. My best being Amelia AirHeart, sizzled silky, who loves to sit. She sits on her own eggs but she won't let a roo near her so they are completely infertile...
Will she sit still if you put some eggs under her?
Had you candled the zipped egg for movement? Maybe it got stuck when the hen pulled away and lost it's humidity...?
Thanks Glory!
Well, waiting on two eggs here...one with a pip, Should be a wrap by the morning. The next crew was set the 19th...I guess I better get their brooder set up...may be 12 new chickees! Pics to follow tomorrow!
I had two hona's and one black isbar chick sitting in the incubator this morning. Two more hona eggs have pips and the remaining blue isbar eggs have pips also. Just one remaining on the end that is not pipped. Feeling very blessed that the 6 isbar chicks are going to hatch. Especially since it...
I will need to pick your brain on some stuff...I am def moving in your direction but have yet to get the time to be as prepared! And I am a crappy canner!
Hope they come flying out of their shells for you soon!
I have 3 pips in the honas and one in the blue isbar egg. Should be some squaking in the incubator tomorrow morning. There are 12 due tomorrow. 5 hona and 7 blue isbar...
I am on day 20 lockdown for the six eggs of my blue isbar i found hiding under a hosta plant. They should be Dan's offspring...my beautiful blue isbar roo who was killed by the neighbors dog. I have one more of her eggs in there and 5 Svart Hona eggs due.
The other crew from earlier this month...
Is she assuming it is the flu or has this truly been confirmed? If so, This is EXTREMELY SERIOUS. You need to go up the the CDC & USDA website and see who your contact is for the area. Most Avian Flu has been in the commercial realm and not the backyard but those who lived within a couple miles...
