Free to good homes, 3 roosters.
Two Barred rocks, regular black and white coloring.
One Americana/Easter Egger type. He is black with golden highlighted feathers.
All three were hatched around Mothers Day and are getting their crows, so they should be ready for their own yard full of hens...
Ask on a freecycle group, we get most of our egg cartons for free. People at work give them to me as well. I try to fill them up and re-use them, after so many refills they get a free dozen.
Keep an eye on her. I've chickens with shorter beaks do fine for a while, then just suddenly do very poorly. Maybe more of the beak broke off and then they had lots of trouble eating.
I didn't know you were in Texas. You PM'ed me about shipping him and I was on the fence. If HappyCat doesn't end up taking him, you're next on the list.
The Colonel is looking for a new home. He's a lovely little guy, not quite a banty but needs a smaller hen to mate with. I think a silkie sized or game style hen would be best. He is a sweet rooster, does the dances for the girls and shows them all the little treats he finds. He is white...

So it's been a couple days since I treated Winky. Last night my husband and I were preparing ourselves for a one-eyed chicken. I thought Winky might lose the eye. I checked today and there's improvement! The eye was almost swollen shut last night, and this morning I could see the pupil and...
I do the 1tsp/ 1 gallon of water for most illnesses. If you're using a 3 gallon water jug, just mix 1 Tbsp. If the duramyacin doesn't work, your can try Cordid, it's another antibiotic and a little more heavy duty.
I looked up fowl pox and that seemed likely. I took my picture into the feed store today and they seemed to think it was from coming in contact with fecal matter via the water. I have a couple chicks that perch up on the water jug, so it's likely. They suggested I put duramyacin in the water...
Chick is about four weeks old and away from mom. I noticed the eye issue today. From the top of the head (looking down) it looks like a growth or a wart type on the upper part of the eye (like where an eyebrow would be). I don't know what's up with Fluffy Butt.
Here's a picture of the new happy family. I love how that one baby is practically inside the feeder. LOL That little rust colored one on the left is my current favorite.
Congratulations, Animalsroc! They're adorable. Momma is being protective, and I haven't been able to get any good pictures. My kids are thrilled. I think we got a good mix of easter eggers and some barred rocks. There's a very pretty rust colored one that I'm praying is a pullet. We've...
