We think the black ones are a male and female. Maybe they are black swedish, or a mix.
One is bigger, very very quiet, and still has very black feathers.
The other is a little smaller, very very loud, and feathers under the wings are turning grayish.
Still not sure about the buff-colored...
I don't know at all about mixing flocks, although I think I did see a few posts when I first came here.
I do remember reading that ducks start off needing 90 degrees temp at hatching, and it goes down by 5 degrees per week. Also, ours are just about 2 months old and appear to have their full...
Not sure about the other questions, but I do think it's fine to mix the breeds. Ours are 2 or 3 different kinds (not quite sure yet) and they can't stand to be separated even for a minute. And at the pond there are pekins, muscovies, and mallards, and they all seem to get along well enough, even...
We have some ducks that were born on March 21st (my birthday!), so their about nine weeks old or so. We have two Black Swedish and two mixes, one of which has a pom-pom. Names:
LOUD Black Swedish with black beak: Kuro (Japanese word for black)
Quiet Black Swedish with peach beak: Momo (Japanese...
I'm so sorry! I have four ducklings of my own, and it would kill me to lose one. I hope that you can recover well from your loss, and I send many attempts at comforting you.
:aww
I hope that dog pays!! Not to say that I want him dead, too, but it almost seems fitting. Take a life, give a life...
This is one that my friend from school said that she had to say in choir practice:
New York, unique.
Unique New York.
You know you need unique New York!
(Quite frankly, I'm happy living in a place where you can own a farm and chicks and ducks and cats and dogs and horses. No, I don't need...
We got ours as 2-day-olds and handled them every day. 3 of them will tolerate being held and sometimes even like it. The 4th screams, always has, and we are giving up on him probably because it just stresses him out too much to hold him. He will even refuse hand-feeding grasshoppers if he thinks...
We have yet another problem with the ducks! They're losing their feathers!
It's mainly Kupo, our runner duck. He's got some places where he doesn't have any feahters; mainly around his thigh, wing, and a little on his back. Baka, our Pekin, is also losing some of his in the same places, but no...
Ooh, that's an odd mix. Of course, we once said our little Kupo (we renamed the one with the afro) was a cross between a Pomeranian and a Runner Duck. He's just a crested, though. But he does stand really tall.
See 'ya!
Black Swedish... no, I don't think so. We looked at pics of them, and they didn't really look like our ducks. We have to get the film developed, then I'll show you.
Thanks, you really did help!
