Preparing for Hurricane Isaac here on the gulf coast. Had a talk with the ladies and told them to hunker down. Heavy rain and wind expected for tomorrow. Hopefully things will work out.
...one got locked out. Nothing...I finally looked by the coop and there it was...pulled half way through the fence with it's head ripped off. I was ******!
I didn't see it actually happen but I'm sure it was the dog, the body of the chicken was still warm. Should I say something to the father...
I went to Orlando for a vacation with the family, so I just paid my nephew. I put the feed in zip lock bags marked for each day. All he had to do is feed one bag a day and make sure they have fresh water. Worked out really well.
I do like to feed everyday so I can check on them. Good idea about keeping the feed fresh. It's just that I get up at 3 am to go to work and by the time I get get home at 4 pm, they are trampling on each other to get to me and the food. Maybe I can just make a small feeder the will last 2-3 days...

Lost a RIR today. came in from work and everyone was fine...eating, drinking and jumping from branch to branch. Went out about 30 minutes ago and found her lying on her side...sad.
They finally got to go outside for about an hour. For the first 10 minutes they just stood there looking at the grass and listening to the outdoor sounds. They seem really confused. Then they started to walk around a bit, scratching and picking. A couple of them started trying to fly, jumping...
