That's actually 2 down my friend
I have seen the "broody coturnix" threads on here but they are the exceptions, not the rule. If you seriously want to raise coturnix quail, then you need incubator/s and brooder/s.
As far as egg production goes, a hen, given the proper nutrition...
Had a friend send me about 16 Jumbo Coturnix Quail.
I want them for eggs and meat so here are my questions.
1. is it better to let the females hatch them or should I try incubation?
2. How many eggs do they lay before they sit on them and should I separate them from the male at this time?

Two weeks ago I accidentally broke an egg removing the cover. Since I had nothing to lose I took some Duct Tap and covered the hole. Today I have a bouncing baby chick, Taffy Duct!
I hatched her two weeks ago. She is part silver laced wyndotte, Part sneaky Rooster. Now that I know I can incubate eggs without them exploding and causing structural damage to the house, I have 46 more I am trying.
Maybe, but since Zoning says I can only have 6 chickens and I am only doing this to get the Seramas, thats kind of overdoing it. If I wasn't in a rush I could probably build a bigger one than them at a fraction of the price.
I am getting about 25 to 30 eggs this week And need a incubator NOW (most eggs are Seramas) My feed Store will let me borrow his but it would be my like it will break. I have called all over Tulsa and no one has them and need to order it. I want a reputable dealer that can ship ( I will pay for...
I went to Lowes and bought a cute little doghouse and 50 foot of Fencing, Went to Jubilee Liquors and bought a bottle of Rum, Went to Steve's Wholesale and bought some nails, Family Dollar for coke, came home and in 30 minutes I had a coup.
I have another coup out back I did by hand. That is...
This is why I have MY OWN PERSONAL SITE. You can cry and wine all you want about something I posted and I just don't care. I post pictures that I take because they interest me, if people don't like it they can go to another page. Now I don't steal anyones pictures and I don't post questionable...
First, may I suggest, quit reading the news! Remember the 2009 Swine Flu outbreak? Now switched to H1N1 because the Egyptian Govt went over the deep end and killed all the pigs in the country? H1N1 killed less than half of what the normal Flu Virus kills every year.
ABF, though a Major Illness...
How do you wind up with old eggs? I took two out of my Coup and the neighbors were running over to see how many I had and if they were extra. Now when I check chickens I bring a Taser.
I'm curious. I got 6 golden duckwings. The guy I got them from breeds them so I know his rooster nailed them a few times. How long will they lay fertile eggs before the rooster has to do the nasty again? I don't plan on raising chickens yet but am curious.
