I've been hatching and will be hatching extra muscovy babies. Currently have about 13 extras that are about 3-5 days old. Super cute and ready to cuddle with you!
The ones I have left look like they will be black and white. Salem area.
FYI, Tomorrow is Chick Day at Old Mill Feed in Dallas! About 3,000 chicks find new homes in one day! Also, I believe they have sales on bird gear and food. You can call them for more details.
Here is the website: http://www.oldmillfeed.com/events/04052014-chick-day/
I have 11 that are California/New Zealand with a hint of English Spot thrown in. The spotted ones in the pic (so cute!) doe is checkered/Flemish giant and buck is California/New Zealand. The CA/NZ are about 7-9 pounds full grown. The checkered/Flemish is quite a bit bigger so the babies will...
Update for those of you who were looking for a birthday present for the hubby for me. Here are pics of the Old English Bantam game rooster, Reducto ("I'll make you fun-sized!") I got him.
Here he is with my muscovy hen Dinah (who lives in the kitchen) and with an Ameraucana mix rooster for...
Salinas,
I'll be brave and give you the dissenting opinion. Yes. Many, many, many Oregonians strongly dislike Californians. What's been my experience is that it is the Californians who want to colonize - rather than immigrate and blend - who are the problem. The Oregonians who are most...
We just dusted for mites about 3 days ago, and they all went into their right houses last night. Also, we move the houses every few days, as we use truck canopies on the bare ground and they make it muddy very quickly. Thanks for the suggestion, though. It's always a good idea to check for mites!
Too funny! We usually have 3 distinct flocks of birds in 3 distinct houses (about 20 birds per house). Yesterday, I went down in the evening to put the birds up and found that most of them were already in -- all in one house. This morning when I let them out we counted 45 in the same house --...
This morning while doing morning chores, one of my female muscovies came out of her hiding place for breakfast with 10 baby ducklings behind her. I would have sworn it was too cold and early in the year, but it seems spring has arrived!
Just a follow up on my inquiry a few weeks ago, I finally picked up that Old English Bantam Game Rooster that I was asking about and surprised the husband with him on his birthday. He was so happy! It's been three days now and the rooster hasn't even made it outside yet. He's been either in...
Anyone in the Salem area going to have any hatching eggs available for peachicks? I'd like to give them a try this spring. Hatched chickens, ducks, geese, but never peachicks. Thanks!
I did not even know they had color differences. The happy thing is that I found the contact info for the farmer who had the one the hubby fell in love with, and he's willing to part with that very same bird! So I get to sneak away this week and go pick him up. I'll let you know, though, if...
Anyone near Salem have an extra Old English Bantam Game Rooster? I'd love to get one for the hubby for his birthday. He thinks they are great, and I think he's great, so that would be great.
Thanks!
I also had a great time at the poultry swap today. It was my first event in the poultry world. I dragged my mom along to help me with my hobby, and she helped me buy a pair of my dream birds, as well as some great additions to my growing duck flock. Good times!
On a separate note, I decided to get into ducks this year and had 6 full months of incubation. I have many drakes that are ready for butcher, but I'm looking for a buyer. I currently have 15 khaki campbell drakes (~4 pounds each), I will have 5-8 rouen drakes in a few weeks (8-9 pounds each)...
