Vet wrap (the adhesive tape) is a great thing to have on hand, I guess it’s also called Coban (for humans) or Vetrap (for animals)
I used to have it on hand for horses, I never thought of using it for chickens though 🤔
Cruella and Estella (CC and Stella) both started squatting today! :celebrate
Hopefully they’ll start laying soon!:fl
I found an egg the other day that was the size of a Silkie egg, but it was a different color. Unfortunately I forgot it was in my coat pocket and accidentally broke it 😅...
PuffPuff's crest is the same way, but I don't dare wash it right now with this cold (-1 F). She's in the barn though so I'm not too worried about it at the moment, I just want her fluffy feathers back 😂
Congratulations! You’ll love them! 🥰
PuffPuff laid her first egg at 13 months old, she had a bit of a rough start, otherwise I think she would have started laying sooner. She went broody exactly one month after she started laying 😅
My last Silkie, Pumpkin, started laying around 5-6 months old...
That’s really interesting! It sounds like Satins/Silkies are kind of like Saanen and Sable goats, which are registered based on color 😃
Now following! ❤️
PuffPuff is more *cough* refined, but my Polish love doing zoomies! The only problem is, they can’t see where they’re going. I was petting PuffPuff yesterday and all of a sudden had a fluffy chicken torpedo hit me in the side of the head:lau
These are gorgeous! I’ll have to keep Cackle in mind if I get more Silkies this year. Maybe I could let PuffPuff hatch a few eggs and sneak some of these under her...
I wish you were closer, I’d take that splash roo in a heartbeat 😍 I hope you can find good homes for them!
My barn cat gets along great with my chickens! She doesn’t really go in the barn around my Silkie and Polish, but she hangs out in the big chicken run all the time with no issues. I must admit she’s not much of a hunter though
