Question for those in the front range.
Anyone's trees way behind in leafing out this year? Mine seem painfully behind and have me concerned. All trees I have planted in the past 1-4 years. Stone fruit trees seem to be the worst but also maple catalpa, nut and a few ash that came with the...
We all know about the 50% off lumber at HD and Lowes but I just found out about the 90% off "cull" lumber at Lowes this week. I'm just building a cover for my pullet pen and 2 more raised beds so a little wonky is fine. This is what $60 worth of lumber looks like. It's stacked and bundled...
Same in Boulder county. Church food banks are a little more flexible. Barter with friends for excess produce. Chickens are more than happy with fruit and vegetable treats.
Anyone interested in some scions to try their hand at grafting? Need to finish up pruning before we get a week of 75*+. Red Haven ? nectarine, Hall, Contender, Enterprise plus one other peach. Also have about 10 varieties of apples I can take cuttings from. I'm N of DIA. Must be done before...
Feeders looks like they are moving chicks just as soon as they come in. I'd pick up (2) week olds tomorrow before the new chicks show up. Less chance of losing any. I have unvaccinated chicks showing up tomorrow but they are all standards.
Anyone else having this problem? All 3 of the apple trees that came with the property, probably 10 years old, have big fat buds and one has new growth. They flowered and produced for the first time in 3 years last year. Any recommendations to save this year's crop? Thankfully none of the new...
Best of luck over the next 2 nights. Just need to put down some fresh straw for the geese and I think I'm ready. It's actually pretty nice outside now just a little breezy. It's been a while since we had to deal with these lows. I did -17 a few years ago in Boulder and everyone survived but...
Me neither for the most part but I do enjoy FB marketplace. Not as many flakes as CL.
I did go back to Oct 1 and there was nothing. Must of taken it down.
Been super quite around here. We must all be melting from the heat.
My garden is shaping up to be another disappointment. The cool weather vegetables produced one meal apiece and gave up the fight. Pulled the beets and they were only the size of a pencil so ate the greens and the chickens...
I think I just answered my own question. Saw the quarantine area and the farm on 52 is smack in the middle... Still want confirmation. Isn't it in the best interest of all to announce who it is?
Over the weekend it was announced that a farm in Weld county has tested positive for bird flu and 1.3 M birds were to be destroyed. There are 3 egg farms that I know of within 45 miles of me and Weld county is the largest country in the state but has anyone heard any more details? Wild birds...
