    Swimming Silkie ?!?

Hahahaha! My silkies are equally as ridiculous. I always have to rush outside when it's raining because they will just stand there and allow themselves to get soaked. They also love baths- especially the blow drying part. They trill in happiness lol

    Pullets stopped laying

Yikes! It might be pain for yours! My lady just took a hiatus and got back to work. Anything new happen with your flock? When one started brooding (and stealing my other ladies eggs to sit on) they all took a hiatus for 2 weeks and then got back to business. All of them need a break from time to...

A happy ending to a wry neck chick story! (WITH PICS) - WITH UPDATE

For the full bottle of polyvisol I used 2 vitamin e tablets (you'll have to squish them) and 2 selenium tablets (crushed). Don't forget to separate the chick in a dark quiet area otherwise they will get stressed about the other chicks :) Be patient the chick will be okay! Butch has now become...

Rooster's loving is getting a bit rough!

He's a good Roo and he doesn't peck while mating... now that she's bald he seems to be uninterested and giving her a break. Not sure if he just got overwhelmed that she was ... you know, a virgin... or what. I hope he'll go back to being a gentleman. He hasn't been as bad of a harasser in the...

Rooster's loving is getting a bit rough!

My babies free range all day so that wouldn't help too much haha. Not sure why he suddenly ONLY likes butch. She looks pitiful!

Rooster's loving is getting a bit rough!

Our lovely Bo Boy has been very pleased with his two main hens while the pullets were maturing... and now that one pullet in particular is fully matured (a little silkie with semi-stunted growth named Butch)... he has a new favorite. Butch. He mounts her several times a day (and has even begun...

Help - Hens not Laying and Losing Feathers

It could be stress/depression related. If I even change something small like the paint on the coop theyll go through a revolt non laying period so losing one of their friends could be the reason. Did you comb over your other hens to be sure they have no injuries? They could also be just taking...

The method worked! It's been 48 hours so I let her out and she hasn't gone back in to brood! Wahoo!

How to Break a Broody Hen

While we were on vacation we came back to find our bantam Cochin, cruella, brooding. I took her eggs away from her but then my rir, peep, would go lay and cruella would sit on peeps eggs! Ahhh! I had two against working against me. Then peep stopped laying because cruella was hogging the nest...

Woke up to a pile of feathers - what attacked my babies?

Whatever it was, it'll probably be coming back tonight... And the hubs will be waiting for it. Took the pullet to the vet to be on the safe side & he said she'll be fine just a superficial wound.

Woke up to a pile of feathers - what attacked my babies?

No losses! Bo boy, our Roo, has made quite a name for himself in saving the lives of our ladies & fighting off predators. Do cats try to eat the eggs? It looks like part of the reason for the attack was for the eggs.

A happy ending to a wry neck chick story! (WITH PICS) - WITH UPDATE

I'm glad this helped! Definitely not a lifetime commitment - butch is now one of the sturdiest in my flock! You would never know she had any issues :-)

Woke up to a pile of feathers - what attacked my babies?

I woke up this AM to my roo going crazy. Like any good mom, I groaned, threw on some shoes, and went out to calm him down - thinking a cat simply walked by the coop, causing him to go into a fit. Imagine my shock when all I see is a pile of feathers and my pullet who sleeps on the ground...

Silkie Pullet standing off to the side by herself, head dropping down - UPDATE inside please assist

UPDATE: She will NOT eat - not even her favorite (scrambled eggs or bananas - I tried both). She drank a miniscule amount of water. Her poop was watery and green. No other pullet showing ANY symptom of sickness (and they all eat and drink from the same containers). I WILL take her to the vet...

Silkie Pullet standing off to the side by herself, head dropping down - UPDATE inside please assist

I also gave her a few drops of antibiotics (I happen to have them from the vet bc of a different pullet) and some polyvisol. Hoping it helps or that someone will have some insight :(

Silkie Pullet standing off to the side by herself, head dropping down - UPDATE inside please assist

We rehomed a lil cockerel a few days ago and I thought my silkie pullet was simply depressed, but now she is standing off to the side by herself and her head keeps drooping slowly to the ground? I have searched this whole forum up and down and can't find any answers :/
