Anyone else with a disabled pet?

We have a 13 year old blind horse. She went blind about 5-6 years ago due to lack of worming in her prior home, the parasites attacked her eyes. She is 100% blind in both eyes. She is the sweetest horse you could meet.

    Question for discussion

Quote: ^^^This.....I think they will eventually start doing what they need to do by instinct but with a mother hen they learn to do these things much younger & quicker.

You know you live on a farm when:

You call in late for work because the darn goat got it's head caught in the fence again.....

baby roo trying to simulate mating?

My 6 week old roo tried to do this the first time I introduced him to the adult hens. He grabbed one of my Wyandottes by the back of the neck & hopped on. He tried to stay on, it looked like a little chicken rodeo bronc, but poor little guy couldn't hold on & the hen was ticked. She ran him...

    Feeding goats: alfalfa vs hay

Our goats have a lot of pasture so when they have pasture we don't give them too much extra. Plenty of fresh water, goats can be picky about their water - we change our water out once per day. It is very important that the male goat drinks a lot because of urinary tract problems. During the...

"I gots to get fixed? What?"

My rabbits that I had growing up were never fixed. Smokey (who looked just like yours) was fine, he never sprayed in the the house or humped any one's legs. I even brought him to school for the day a few times for show & tell. The only one we had a problem with was Loppy - he had to become...

Deanie Weanie....rescued at 2 weeks old by my brother off of the side of a major highway, we have no idea how he would have gotten there. He is now 13 years old. Jade (the one rolling) loving life. She is 100% blind & was pregnant, several hundred pounds underweight, lice & terrible...

Ninnies.....and the part they come out of is called a who ha. The stallions boy parts are referred to as chimi changas & when they are removed it is called brain surgery. At least that is what we call it on our farm.

    Sad story (disturbing)

This goes along with the fact that most people who see a short haired, medium sized muscular dog automatically think it is a pitt bull. I also don't like what some breeders are doing to the breed....a nice APBT should not look like some of these things people are breeding & putting out.....it...

Chronic Renal Failure in cats **update**

I talked to the vet this afternoon. His blood work came back ok & his kidney function was not that bad. The worst thing was his urine concentration. For right now we are just going to stick with the meds & touch base again on Monday unless he gets any worse.

Chronic Renal Failure in cats **update**

The vet said that he will wait till we get the blood work back to see what his numbers are & then they want me to bring Deanie back in to give fluids & flush the kidneys. He did eat a little bit of food this morning, so hopefully the medicine is helping him.

Chronic Renal Failure in cats **update**

Does anyone know anything about this? I just took my 13 year old cat to the vet tonight & they think this is what is wrong with him. He has stopped eating, excessive thirst, drooling & mouth ulcers. We are waiting to get his blood work back tomorrow but they sent me home tonight with some...

Hmm possibly a horse? How much are they about a month?

I would be leery of a place that only charges $100 per month as well. This is why.......We pay $25 per horse for a trim, a 50 pound bag of Purina Strategy cost about $15 per bag around here (depending on the horse you can go through 1 bag or more per week) plus hay at $4 per bale - so if you...

Hmm possibly a horse? How much are they about a month?

The $100 per month is probably self care...if that is the case you will still need to buy feed & hay, wormers, farrier every 6-8 weeks & shots (if you are lucky & have no other medical bills for the horse). Prices for everything can vary depending on where you are from. Breed of horse - There...

    My free craigslist find....

His feet do need to be trimmed though and his front legs need to be washed. He stinks pretty bad already Don't bother washing his front legs if he is still in rut....he will just pee on them the minute you are done (or during for that matter). I learned my lesson the hard way with that...

    Male Goats...

He is in rut right now. Our buck just started his rut for the season, but we will keep him away from the does until October when we want him to breed. It does not matter if they are in heat or not, a young buck will still try.
