cost estimate for mature Black Spanish tom

Does anyone have an estimate of what it would cost for me to replace a healthy, mature Black Spanish tom? I lost one to a dog attack and am working up an invoice for the people who own the dog. I have no idea what to charge. Thank you.

Need help with COST - birds lost to dog attack...

I have searched on here, looking for a several-years-old post which contained a cost breakdown of poultry losses. I cannot find it and need it (or something similar) for an itemized bill. Can anyone help me locate this?? I believe it was from a University (perhaps Iowa or Illinois) and it was...

    Who made this?

http://www.hswlt.org/assets/images/diy-images/diy-coyote-tracks.jpg hopefully this works...it shows the difference in the claws & foot shape pretty well. it looks like the track has been rained on (??) and that the pad impression is a bit obscured, but I do think it's a large dog. Hope this...

    Who made this?

It looks like a large dog, to me. We're in Far West TX, and have coyotes all over (we ranch also). Their tracks usually have different shaped toes, and the claws are awfully long, for a coyote.

Hens dying every few days...WTH??? No signs of sickness, please help!!

Just read through this, and it sounds like I only go down to my coop every few days -- oops! I go down there at least twice a day, usually more...I just meant I am finding dead birds every few days. Sorry for any confusion! Also, I've been watching VERY closely for varmints and snakes, I...

Hens dying every few days...WTH??? No signs of sickness, please help!!

I have a small mixed flock of laying hens, no rooster. Every three or four days I go down to the coop & find one dead, sometimes overnight, sometimes when I go down to put them to bed at sunset. They are not showing signs of sickness -- eating, puttering around and behaving as normal. They...

nest attacked by other hens...will eggs still hatch?

I've got a broody who has been setting on eggs for almost three weeks. I've got her in a huge dog crate, which I keep closed off so my other hens don't get in there...the other morning as I was changing out her food & water, she escaped. I couldn't catch her, so had to leave the crate opened...

    White Leghorn, the forgotten breed

I have a mixed flock of barnyard birds. My roo is EE, Buff Orpington and something else (I can't remember, a friend of mine gave him to us). I have one that will have new babies in about 7-8 days, actually...all from my hens. She's happily setting in the big dog crate that serves as my...

    Deterring Feral Cats

my suggestion is a live trap, then dispose of the cats as you see fit. if you have a local humane society, you might be able to take them by there. if you are worried about nosy neighbors hearing gun shots, get a 50gal drum or large trash can and fill it with water, then slip the entire live...

any experience with electric run fencing?

Hello all! I am looking into getting some of the electric poultry fencing to expand my flock's range area. I used to free range, and for three years that worked great...then we got new neighbors with terrible dogs, and my flock of 50+ birds was reduced to nine hens and one rooster in a matter...
