I would think not, when animals enter the grass the grass would spread apart. Anything flying over head would see it once directly over head. With that be said the odds of evasion is high in favor of the chickens seeing the predator would have to be directly overhead.
Consider this as well...
Thank you Sebrightmom, I received your eggs. Got 14.
I will note, they were the best package eggs I have ever received. Great job. Can't wait to see them hatch. They are due out on the 18th of April.
Additional symptoms...
It just started that a while ago today. It also gets to going backwards and can't stop and holds it head down and then it's heads twists around and it does a flip then gets back up and stands there looking with it's head sideways.
Have a Dominique (sp?) chick that is about a week old. Everything was normal until this morning. For some reason it has a crooked neck now. Head is turned in one direction and isn't returning to a normal position.
What could be causing this?
pips&peeps :
Ascott1978,
Contact me later this spring as I am setting up a splash pen.
I will have a splash cock over splash and blue hens. The egg color might not be as great as some of my other pens, but the resulting chicks will be mostly splash.
Will do.

So if my goal is to breed mostly blues I need to retain a blue rooster and as many blue hens as possible. Right?
I want to eventually get a splash rooster.
Quote:
No, I already know what I ordered. The eggs are from a Blue rooster to black hens and from a second breeding pen where she has a Black rooster with blue hens. Thus the chicks I will be getting will be only black and blues. All of which will carry the blue gene.
Looking to buy 12+ pure breed Blue Ameraucana hatching eggs.
Must be willing to ship to Texas. Perfer breeder to be member of ABC.
