Hi cocoloco
I would check out the farm/owner first. You don't want ANY diseases brought to your new flock! If you do decide to add some hens make SURE to quarantine them for several weeks. Watch they're behavior and look for any health issues, then you can start slowly integrating them into...
I just brought home 3 new chicks (maybe 2-3day olds) one of them is really being aggressive pecking/biting the other 2 in the face and eye area. What's up with that? I had 6 newbies in the same pen I now have 3 in. What do I need to do to correct this?

k , thanks. Appreciate the info. Does anyone have a clue as to how long it takes the hens to start putting on weight after Corid treatment? I'd love to have a base line to compare too. Assuming all things being successful. Thank you in advance, ya'll are the bomb.. Very appreciative to you...
Yes, I cut out all treats during the treatment when I read they weren't to have any. I have given them watermelon. How much yogurt should I be giving them? I might be over doing it. Not familiar with probiotic powder???
I have not done the repeat on the safeguard yet. They are due. My hens are between 8-9 months old. The hen w-the symptoms turned around in half a day. How long before they start gaining? I have duramycin/tetracycline on hand.
I treated my hens w/safeguard then Corid. Only 1of 6 hens was showing signs of cocci but kno all had it. I've since administered the 3 day vitamin reg. and yogurt. Everyone looks great. Eating and drinking normal but they are not gaining any weight and even looks like they may still be loosing...
If you take a sample to your vet they shouldn't charge a lot if anything. I'm going to finish up then start the vitamin reg. etc and see how it goes. Everyone has started laying again and look good with the exception of the weight loss and runny stool. If I still have the signs I will take a...
I'm having a similar problem w/mine. Out of six, two of my hens still have runny stools. I'm on my 5th day of corid. I'm going to dose for 7 days. I gave them all Safeguard befor I started the Corid. So I'm wondering what's goin on as well..
I have a barred rock hen that is @ 8 mo. old. she is keeping her left eye closed and acting like she doesn't feel well. She got broody a couple of weeks ago (her and another hen) and finally came off the nest. She hasn't laid since. She seems lethargic and has lost weight. I had all of them on...
Hi here, Welcome to BYC! Sounds like you really enjoy your animals, good luck with your new flock. Your ahead of the game if you've done your research!
Hi LucyBlue, welcome to BYC. Sounds like your headed in the right direction. You might want to try to feed her some yogurt and scrambled eggs (yogurt for probiotics and eggs for protein). Some one should get back to you on the other quest. and give you some direction. Good Luck...
