I have been keeping the bantam flock cooped up for about three years, with the exception of a few weeks last year. The Tsouloufati group has been a work in progress, and a ranging group for over a decade. Until relatively recently, I did now hatch any chicks here, nor were there any broodies...

Gosh, he’s grown so much since the last time we saw him! He’s such a stunning cockerel. Very glad it all seems to be going smoothly; looks like a natural upbringing does have a lot of benefits. Thank you for this “collab” of sorts, it has brought some pleasant news to us all

Very very exciting! Hopefully Glais gets to flourish in his new home. Pretty historic meeting, between you and Shad. One could be tempted to ask for photos, but I think we all know the answer to that :p . Same here! Like love island, but for chickens. And instead of an exotic paradise...

Question of the Day - Thursday, October 9th, 2025

Spend some time outside. That could be observing the chickens, tending to the plants, training the dog while on a walk, or just sitting and admiring a nice bird call. Alternatively, swearing :p

Native vs non native speaker and abbreviations tax. The chickens are still cooped, so no good recent photos. Hopefully older ones will do

Thank you ( @fuzzi too!) , that is very kind of you to say :hugs . My introduction to the English language came fairly early in life. The Greek language isn’t exactly widespread, not to mention the fact that a lot of people choose to move abroad to find better careers opportunities; it’s almost...

I had the same problem with a lot of the abbreviated breed names! I can’t complain too much about that, however, as I found myself doing the same :duc . Now that’s an excellent case in point. I thought SIL was for sister in law (although I guess it can be used for both)!

After reading -40 degrees, I know it’s my time to stop weighing in on any weather discussions  . Winters here are a joke to most of you, but I love it. Photo taken during Christmas time, almost two years ago. The chickens seem to be perfectly adapted for this sort of weather, the...

As a non native speaker, some of the vocabulary used here takes me a second to understand. I particularly struggle with abbreviations. Excellent example being “fwiw”. For the longest time, I thought it was some scientific paper thing. The revelation usually comes late at night, when my mind is...

Yup! I think many in the community turn to plants. I can definitely see why. Sometimes when one can’t find a home with their birth family, they find it with their chosen family. I think it’s a very beautiful thing, that most of the community is still very supportive of eachother. Yes...

Fwiw, I recently repotted my oldest plant, a big haworthia. All the root growth was pretty much horizontal, like a platter of succulents. It wasn’t very extensive either. Both your pot and the plant look great (the triceratops fits right in too), no need to worry!

Those are some gorgeous species, and all of those you’ve shared pictures of look great! I think we annoy everyone a little too much with our plant antics, but

You obviously know much more about Cochins than I do, but I’d expect a juvenile bird, a male, no less, of any breed to be fairly “lanky”. Maybe showing us some pictures of your adolescent males would help more, since both of those examples look to be from mature roosters

Oh that is so sad. Unfortunately, a lot of forums can get like this. I mean, I do understand where they’re coming from, but the poor man just lost his eyesight and was probably in a LOT of pain. At least approach the subject with a little bit of compassion. I’ve found the same thing in many...

I don’t know much about Cochins, but I believe they’re not supposed to have vulture hocks. Pet quality golden laced Cochin sounds about right, but he just might be a very successful mix of mixes. Very pretty guy though
