I forgot to add that this chick also witnessed the dog attack which killed her mom and all of the other chickens. She hid under her dead mom for 4 hours before I even found her. :,( She didn't make any noise or move so I only found her when I moved the mom. Thank God she was unharmed. Could she...
I have 3 frizzle chicks that I rescued after their mom (and all 16 of my other chickens) were killed. The oldest is almost 4 weeks and the other two are 2 1/2 weeks. I was wondering about the oldest chick, she is very very attached to me. When I let them out of their little brooder box, the...
With my chicken "Spike", the vet said that his hip socket was too shallow to keep the hip joint in the proper place. He said the only way to fix it would be put a pin in there to hold it, but surgery wasn't recommended for a bird as they rarely make it through. I took him when he was quite...
I just came across your post and I wanted to share the story of my rooster "Spike" who had this exact thing wrong with his legs. It started when he was a few days old and got progressively worse, until he was grown...then the leg was completely backwards. I took him to the vet, and they told me...
Thank you everyone for responding. My hen died shortly after I posted last night. I can't believe I lost my entire flock yesterday (21 total). I have 3 little newborn baby frizzles, that were saved, to raise now, but I'm scared to put them back in the yard after the slaughter yesterday :(
I had a pack of wild dogs break into my coop today and wiped out my entire flock. 11 large birds, 6 frizzle bantams. One of the frizzle bantam hens was surprising still alive, barely. I brought her in the house at about 9:00 this morning (right after I discovered the horrible attack). She was...
I have 7 bantam frizzles and I LOVE them. They are great mothers and will sit several times a year (or at least mine have). The rooster is very protective of the hens and they are very mild mannered. They are also very adorable :). I have a few double frizzles (which resulted from 2 frizzled...

I understand Nikkumz, lol. Thats kinda what I did because I was scared that I might cause some major problem if I got glue on the inside of her crop. I hope I don't have to do anything like this again though, I was so scared for this little thing.
It's funny how attached you can get to...
YAY!! I think the superglue did the trick. She has been eating and drinking all day and no leaking. She is pooping way more than yesterday. I examined her good today and redressed the wound just in case but I think the problem is solved, or at least I hope it is.
Thanks everyone for helping me...
She is eating and drinking like crazy now. Still nothing leaking out. She pooped earlier also and it was a normal poop. Maybe she is going to be alright (YAY)
Thanks again!!
Thanks..
I just cleaned the area good and did something I hope wasn't the wrong thing. I put a tiny tiny dab of super glue on the skin and pulled the hole shut. I let her sit for a while and then let her try eating/drinking again. Thank God, nothing is leaking out now. I have covered the area...
Okay I just watched her drink and the water comes out in tiny drops from her crop. I tried my best to examine her and I can't see any type of opening or tear, but the water is definately dripping out from somewhere. I have no clue what to do. There is no redness, blood, etc. so I don't know...
I have a 5 day old bantam chick who was attacked last night and I think her crop is torn open. It's not bleeding, but her chest is covered with food and when she drinks it runs out of her crop and soaks her legs, etc. She is so tiny I have no clue what to do here. Please help me, I am so upset...
I have a Cornish Cross Rooster named "Clucky" who is now 2 years and 3 months old. He had some tough times around 9 weeks old, but he got through them. I keep him on a controlled diet and he grazes in the grass like the others. He has become a pet to me and I am amazed that he has lived so long...
This is my rooster Spike. He was born with a weird leg so I took him to the vet at 6 weeks old. Turns out it is dislocated and can only be fixed with surgery. But, he told me most birds don't survive surgery. His leg is completely backwards, but he can get around quite well. So now he lives...
I would like to share this with everyone! I have started making these cool little egg ornaments.
What they are is a real chicken egg, hollowed out, cleaned and then the inside decorated with a little scene. The outside is sealed to make it stronger. Since Christmas is inching closer, I would...
