All those baby chicks???!!!!!! I'm on a couple facebook groups where folks are hatching great big Brinsea cabinet incubators full of chicks. Anybody here incubating like this? I wouldn't have thought there would be enough interest or profit in it but I guess there must be!
This was my bible! https://www.backyardchickens.com/web/viewblog.php?id=14596-incubation-cheat-sheet
Dont overlook the part about "Ignore the humidity until day 18"...Most important part imo.

this is not a testimony so much as a barrage of questions and plea for advice...
I am also a believer! If you read my thread here https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=480761&p=1 you will see I had MAJOR problems during lockdown. I think my success was partially due to a dry incubation. During lockdown I had a temp spike, a power outage with low temps for...
Last year I bought chicks..this week I hatched eggs from those chicks! Im addicted.
I have a question for those that have been doing it for years and are doing such large amounts...what are you doing with all those chicks???
Update and pics.....
WOW! This was one crazy ride! So when I last posted I had six chicks that I had removed from the bator and I was horible worried that the rest wouldnt hatch. Last night they started popping out like popcorn! lol... And Ill tell ya, with every 2-3 chicks I popped the lid of...
Ok, pulled the six and I think they were saying "Thanks! We were roasting in there!"! lol.....they are drying off in the brooder. The windows were dripping so I wiped the water off and checked the other eggs that had pipped for noises...all r still chirping! Things are looking good so far...
Ok I did it!
Now a new concern....you know those coils at the top if the bator? I used the egg carton method to hatch and these babies are crawling all over the cartons and the eggs and sometimes touching that heat coil!
So right now the humidity is still 99 and the temp is down to 99. Oh the...
Ive got chicks hatching since this morning. Just got home from work and the humidity is 99! The two that hatched this morning are still wet and 4 more hatched while I was gone. The temp is steady at 100 but is that humidity gonna be a problem? Should I do anything????
Thank you-that makes me feel better Probably a good thing Im working today....the suspense is killing me! Ill just leave it be and see whats happening when I get home.
Good morning all you hatchers!
I have a total of 27 eggs and Im on day 20. Last night around 8pm I saw the first pip. Since then 6 more have pipped and are making great progress and chirping. That first egg tho has done nothing since 8 last night. Pipped a tiny hole and thats it while the rest...
Interesting! I think Ill just collect eggs the next couple days and use those. I may throw a few refrigerated ones in just to see how they do. Thanks for the info!
Can you incubate eggs(from my flock) that have been refrigerated? I only ask because I have eggs from the last two days in the refrig. Decided to incubate some eggs and was just wondering if thats even possible, to use refrigerated eggs that is....TIA!
We have a large rubber container full of water for our horse. Last November I went out to feed and my white silkie was just standing in it, chest deep in frigid cold water. He had gotten so cold he couldnt move. I quickly scooped him up and wrapped him in my coat as I ran for the house. I bathed...
