Ivan is alive and well. We found another duckling with a leg issue as a companion. Her leg healed, but they are thick as thieves. Ivan doesn't get around as much as the other duck, but he will hop around a small area. He swims wonderfully! I will try to post a pic.
ETS: Ivan never did walk on...
It wasn't that long ago that I found myself with an abundance of Delaware hens with no rooster. (Rest in Peace, Florence)
I tried to locate a Delaware cockerel locally, to no avail. So in lieu of a cockerel, I bought hatching eggs from a breeder in NC. Now I have an abundance of cockerels...
22 Welsummer, 21 Delaware, 20 Dominique, 7 Easter egger, 3 polish, 3 black copper marans, 2 cuckoo marans, 2 olive egger, 2 cochin, 1 jersey giant, 6 barnyard mixes
89+??
I'll edit it later once everyone is caught up with the correct tally. I am certain that by the time I post this, there will...
He absolutely was a rooster! He grew into a beautiful porcelain d'uccle rooster. Sadly, one of our rescue mastiffs snapped one day and Mr. Frizz met his demise. That dog never bothered the chickens before, so we were surprised that he attacked him. The dog now lives at another foster home...
Hi Karl!
I know you will get so many different answers as to what breed is best. I have many breeds, but the best layers I have are my Delawares. They are excellent layers of large to extra large eggs and they have a very friendly disposition. I love my Easter egger's eggs because the shell...
I thought I was replying to a post....but alas, no. Please disregard unless you have a Delaware rooster that needs a new home. :))
Happy weekend, Okies!
I just searched in a hurry for a Delaware rooster...(I should have read on in case you've found him a home.)
Have you found him a home yet? I lost my rooster and his ladies are lonely.
...wonder what has been going on. I have shot out of bed a few nights after hearing her alarm and headed out the door with a shotgun. It's a good thing I don't have neighbors nearby. Me with a flashlight in one hand, shotgun in the other running around in my night shirt doesn't exactly scream...
It's day 26 on a nest for one of my guinea hens. Her back was raw a few days ago and now it appears to be a large hole the size of a silver dollar. It's black in color. What can I try to put on her? She nested outside of the guinea house. I am not sure if something got ahold of her or if she has...
Thank you! I am so glad that you had no problems!
I am not one to be spoon fed. I like to know as much as I can on both sides. One of my sons found some birds that are hard to find on efowl.com. Naturally, I wanted to check around before he spent his money. I am letting him make the decision...
So? How were the chicks? I have read a lot of comments about efowl.com, but very little follow up.
The worst I have read is "they steal other's pictures" and they quote different shipping dates.
I would like to hear more about the chicks that are ordered. What I have read, from people that...
I stopped counting at 8 different threads, but you have posted the same question and pics all over the place. You don't even respond to people trying to answer your questions, you just post in another area of BYC.
YOU HAVE MOSTLY MUTTS. Hopefully, pullet mutts that lay yummy eggs for you. If...
I agree. ^
Even if she hatched them, there is no telling how many hens may have contributed eggs. When you consider that, now you have even more unknowns. Even if all adults were "purebred" and ran loose, it's highly likely that the chicks are crosses. How many different breeds? Now try to...
WHOA! What?
Thank you all!
I am bustin' out the chicken breeds book. Who knew?
He is so sweet and ....NEEDY! He will climb under his buddy the Japanese bantam. He needs love. A lot of love. They are so fun to watch.
Well here I am again. As usual, this is about a farm and ranch store chick. You know the kind. The impulse purchase. "It will die if I don't get it." chick.
Nuf said. I have no clue what this cutie is, as my daughter got it for a companion for her rescued chick (that was nearly dead at TSC)...
