My friend is going to do an epsom salt soak and he ordered some drawing salve. I confirmed that he is feeding duck pellets obtained at TSC either Purina or Dumor.
Thank you for the response! The duck is young. Probably 2 or 3 years old. Would a duck that free ranges daily normally have a niacin deficiency? I am pretty sure that the duck is fed a balanced duck food.
Hello ! I haven't logged in for quite some time. I lost two of my chickens last year. One to a hawk and another one, who had previously seemed healthy died in the night. :( But the rest of my flock is doing well. I have 2 ducks and 11 chickens (one of them I recently rescued from a...
Posting this for a friend who asked me to come take a look at his duck since he knew I'd had experience with bumblefoot/limping ducks. This is a female Peking duck. She is enclosed with two other female ducks in a nice duck pen with a pool at night but is out to free range the property during...
She's doing great !! She has a follow up vet appointment at 1 pm today. The swelling is down but still obvious so I'm assuming she will get another antibiotic injection today. Other than that she's swimming everyday now and is now fully waterproof !!
She is doing very good !! Thank you so much for thinking about her :) I posted an update at this thread below.

Good luck with the baby chick. I know all about bringing baby birds (of all kinds) to work. For many years I volunteered for the local wildlife rehabilitation group and, believe it or not, people also brought me baby chickens :) Glad to hear Marmalade is doing better. <3
Update: Took Sugar Foot to the vet yesterday as the joint is still swollen. She is now walking, but not well. The vet gave her an covenia injection and she gets a recheck in 10 days. I continue adding Nutritional yeast to her food and apple cider vinegar to her water. I'm also Cleaning...
I'm so sorry to hear that Marmalade is battling bumblefoot again!! That is good to know about the Vitamin A. In what form are you giving it to her ? I'll also be interested to know if the Tuff foot helps. Is she a "heavy" breed? I was reading that the heavier ducks tend to have more foot...
No, he did not xray her. In fact he didn't really do anything. Cephalexin is the antibiotic used. She is not really walking, but will stand up for very short periods of time. She is also keeping the foot underneath her now. When I first rescued her she dragged both of her legs behind...
Yes 10 days of antibiotics. The vet said there isn't anything else to be done for her so I don't feel like that is an option at this point. :( But I may give him a call on Monday and see what he says. Pretty sure he didn't think she would live. That may be why he said there was nothing...
