I have five young bantam roos that need rehomed. These are from non-hatchery stock. They are blue and blue splash and a couple have crests. Very cute, docile. Most of my flock are based on silver wheaten and carry columbian. I can't guarantee any genetics on these little roos though. Five...
Yes, I was able to find him a good home locally! We are having an early winter here :( and it got too cold to ship. Thank you to everyone for your interest!
This is "Panda". He just started to crow and I am going to have to rehome him. He is a "Showgirl" (a silkie with a naked neck) and he also has frizzled feathers. He is very sweet and gentle. I am located in the Quad Cities on the IL side (Moline). I am willing to ship if you pay for it and...
I just wanted to follow-up and let everyone know that little Emilia did eventually heal :celebrate and was successfully reintegrated into the flock. She has a scar on her leg from her ordeal and is smaller in size than her cohort but otherwise faring well. I'm really glad I used the Tylan on...
Thanks Wyorp Rock! Emilia is doing fine so far. She is eating and drinking and seems to be in good spirits, but will not stand on the injured leg yet. I've cleaned the wounds with a betadine solution and liberally applied triple antibiotic ointment. I don't see any signs so far that she has...
I have an ~ 10 week old bantam chick who injured her leg at the joint. I have no idea how she managed this, but it looks like she got the leg stuck and mangled it at the joint trying to get loose. The joint is now swollen and hot to the touch. So far all I have done is isolate her (brought...
I have ~ dozen little males from my May hatch that are in need of homes. These are bantam Easter eggers that come from non-hatchery bloodlines. Many of the birds I breed end up as children's pets, as 4-H birds, or with families that desire a kid-friendly rooster. Roosters from this flock tend...
I have been breeding bantam non-hatchery Easter eggers for 7 years now and do a hatch once or twice a year, usually 20-50 chicks per hatch. It seems that with each hatch I'll have a chick, always a male, that starts out fine but then develops leg issues around 8-12 weeks of age give or take. I...
Ordinances allowing up to six hens have recently been passed in Moline, IL and Rock Island, IL as well as Davenport, IA just across the river (the Quad Cities).
I think it's an unknown, just no way to really be sure what you might get. They could be "hiding" all sorts of colors and patterns in their genes. But that's what makes Easter eggers so much fun:)
I thought they looked a bit like dun or khaki. Is that a possibility?
As it happens I am purposefully breeding unlaced blue! I'd certainly be interested in buying your birds, but are you in Canada? I'd be interested in hatching eggs too if you have those.
My young bantam rooster has been staying in the house (long story) and I looked up a few minutes ago to see he had flown up on the table and was pecking at my medication. I am not sure if he swallowed any of the pills or not. I am not positive how many pills were out in the little pill cup...
I have a very sweet little male who needs a loving home! We are located in the Quad Cities in IL.
"Mr. Peabody" is a "frazzle", as in he received two copies of the frizzle gene. This means his feathers are not only super curly, but are more likely to break off. I have also heard that frazzles...
Thanks, I own that book and will look for that section. I already have a coop and run, but wanted to research this so I could inform the folks writing the ordinance.
Anyone else have experience with this issue?
I was hoping to find an example or two of city ordinances that address bantams.
