I believe one of my dogs was able to grab my goose through the fence - it makes utterly no sense though, because when I called the 2 in, they sure weren't worrying anything, nor were they fixated on anything - there was NO goose in the back yard when I put them up.
Anyway, I saw Gus' head...
My son and I were sitting on the porch - suddenly, the chickens that just strolled by us start raising cain. Got up just in time to see a red tailed hawk try to take one of my white cochins. Other than keeping them cooped ALL the time - HOW do I stop them? Henny is fine, just a nick on her head...
Rather than let his sacrifice go to waste, is it ok to eat him? The hawk had JUST killed it, but I think he was a bit bigger than the hawk judged him to be, and it flew off as I rounded the corner to the field. I was about to go give them all treats ><
I went ahead and cut so he'd finish...
I'm hoping some of the more experienced chicken peeps out here can give me some advice!
I have 11 seramas, 2 roos and the rest hens. 2 of my girls went broody, and are sitting the eggs that were laid. I had to pull 27 eggs to make it reasonable for them! The ones in the incubator are hatching...
