Hi all,
I need some suggestions. I washed a Yokohama hen a few days ago for a show on Sat. When she dried a few fethers on one side dried with a curve going the wrong direction. Never shown before!! Is there a fix for this? Thanks for any info.
I'm sure this has been asked and answered before but here it goes. All the chicks I hatch at home look wet even long after the are good and dry. They look like they are wearing gel or something. Takes about 5-7 days for them to fluff out. Any reason for this??????????????
If one chicken in a coop has lice , do they all have them??? Just caught a hen that was in a nest box and looked her over pretty good and found her to be clean but the roo looks pretty mangey. Are the lice that get on horses the same that get on chickens? I'll catch the roo after dark and...
As I grow older, I find myself induging myself alot more in reflection, much more than in my younger years when I had to punch the clock and run here and run there trying to get "things" and not too often pausing to appreciate what I have here at home in Montana.
What a day this has started...
Just picked up (6;30 am) my chick order from Ideal Hactchery. Over the years I have ordered alot of chicks from alot of different hatcheries but today was a first for 100% survival. All 25 Houdans and WLR Cornish arrived in great shape. Of course, some of the credit has to be attributed to the...
I have some plucky little Hamburg hens that love to steal a bite or ten of cat food from my barn cats, Rusty and Bisquit. The cats are very tolerant of the chickens but I have seen evidence of the cats killing roughed grouse and hen ringnecks, both of wich are a much harder meal to aquire. The...
I just ordered some WLR Cornish for delivery later this month. Can anyone tell me if mail order cornish are generally up to standards as to size and wieght???? I have never had Cornish before and know little about them. They are coming from Ideal Poultry. Thanks for any info. Robroo
Over the last week or 2 a normally red combed and faced Japanese bantam has developed a very pale pink face and comb. All others in coop are doing well. Any suggestions??????
Has anyone out there had any experience using diatomatious earth as a natural lice control dust bath???? I have read a little about it but have not heard from folks that have used it.
I just brought a Japanese Bantam in from the coop to the garage so his comb will not freeze. I need to get him ready for a show this spring but he is missing his sickle feathers. Anything I can do to make sure he grows them back in time?? ( about 5mo.)
Any Montanans out there?????????????? I'm in the Bitteroot valley Just checked out the Montana thread and the last entry was in 2008 Iknow there are are some poultry people out there. Would like to chat
Hi, I just registered here at BYK. My name is Rob and have raised various kinds of chickens for years but have never shown my birds. I would like to learn about showing and would appreciate any advice you may have to share. Currently I am raising Welsummers, Japanese Blacktailed Bantams, Silver...
