    Crested Special/Blue Silkie/Turken/"Packing Peanut" Shipment

I just received my "missing in transit" shipment from Ideal Poultry this morning. They are four days old and are active, loud, hungry, thirsty, and cute as a bug. (Not a single dead one in the batch even with no food/drink for that long.) I ordered 6 blue silkies (so could be black, blue, or...

    UPDATED: Chicks Missing in Transit

I ordered chicks from Ideal Poultry and they were shipped on Tuesday. I called today because the post office still has not received them. The last tracking scan was in Texas on Tuesday so no one has any idea where they are... :( While I am sure that Ideal will make it right for me, I am...

    Gender please!

We have two black silkies which we do not know the gender.. I really was wondering about cockerel with one, but who knows... They are just so hard! AND FINALLY two more... These two are mixed so we know the moms but not the dads... The white one was born around March 1... The one just above...

Not the bigger ones, those are mixed... But the three that are in the pictures throughout... KWIM? They had just been fed corn and were NOT standing still. Thank you!

    Broken Foot... I think...

My cochin (got it in March) has what I believe it be a broken food... She started limping a week ago and I hoped she just injured it slightly and it would get better on it's own (as my mom's did), but it is just getting worse... There's nothing to be done right? Just end her misery? She just...

Loud Breathing and Snoring in my New Rooster... What should I do?

I just bought a pair of Mille De Fluer D'uccles... I get home and he starts making funny snoring noises and then a sneeze/cough/crow... I tried to take a video of it for you to listen to, but the sound wasn't all that great... No drainage from eyes or nostrils... The seller is reputable. I have...

5 Week Old Bantams... What are we?

All were, incorrectly, marked as Mille De Fleur D'uccles (or you know)... I've asked a few times and was told to keep posting as feathers continue coming in... And MAYBE we'll figure it out :o) Pullet, Single Comb, No feathers on Legs Cockerel, Single Comb, No feathers on Legs, White...

Normal for Light Brahma to Feather so Slow?

This (we guess) Light Brahma was hatched 3/30... Is it normal for that little feathering at this age? All the others were just soooo much more feathered at this age! (Oh and if you doubt Light Brahma just say so... Someone put it in the wrong bin at the store.) ETA: In this pic he is 4 weeks old.

Gender? And one other question regarding mottled cochins... (Pic Heavy I think)

I am thinking all pullets, but could easily be mistaken... Especially with Silky there I'm okay with anything though... All were born before 3/4. Group Shot S/He wanted to be pictured... Posed the whole time... Very curious and has been from the day I brought it home. Mottled Cochin... (Will...

Just Showing Off My New "Babies"!

I picked up these Self Blue Old English Bantams yesterday... They did tell me that the hen isn't a good sitter which is nice to know, but I wish she was a brooder... (I saw a pair at the flea market three months ago and fell in love...) Her sounds CRACK me up! She sounds like someone...

    Are these Mille De Fleur?

They are supposed to be, but they have no feathering on their feet... Is that okay or what? (The other was identified here as probably a light Brahma... It's certainly slow feathering! They are the same age! (S/he also has a constant pasty butt... No matter how often I clean it, it just comes...

Umbilical Cord Still Attached 24 Hours Later?

We have a chick who is still attached to the shell by the umbilical cord. S/he hatched about 20 hours ago... The cord does not look to be dried at all yet and is still wet and red/bloody... What should we do? ETA: S/he is also not very active and just sits there mostly... Still seems a...

In addition... If the breed seems wrong, please let me know! And ignore the mess... I can't begin to say how badly this closet needs to be cleaned! Unless otherwise noted, the are 3-4 weeks. Gold Laced Wyandotte (Had three, this one is the last left) He? is very curious and stands up...

Any ideas on the ages of my chicks?

Can you guess the ages on these chicks? These two Blue Lace Wyandottes were picked up today... They thought about a week old... My Splash Silkie (I think) I got two weeks ago... My three Mottled Cochin I got two weeks ago... My three Silver Laced Wyanottes were picked up two...
